According to BBC News, UK consumers buy 3.6 million second-hand cars from dealers each year. Spending over £24 billion pounds and consuming large amounts of their time traipsing around dealership forecourts in search of their dream motor.
Although people vaguely know what they are looking for in a used car, Google statistics show that only 17% of used car buyers know the exact make and model of the car they have set out to buy. This means that the buyer must visit the dealership and walk around many cars, in the drizzling rain in most cases, in order to narrow down their decision.
We have been conducting research into the habits of used car buyers and looking at ways of helping to make the decision easier when it comes to choosing a new motor. We found that 47% of used car buyers searched online for their car outside of the dealership's hours. This means they could only base their decisions on small, low quality images of the car. Not helpful if you are not even sure of the make or model of the car you are looking for.
Our technical team at Stratstone have come up with a new improved way to solve this problem. We have been busy over the last few months setting up a system which allows us to present the buyer with a full walk-around video of each of our used cars in glorious High Definition. These videos show the viewer all the main features of a car that they would want to see before taking the next step in the buying process. We also offer nine still images of each used car in stock.
By offering this to the buyer we believe that it will improve the buying experience and will help to build the confidence required when looking for a used car. No more soaked-through afternoons on the forecourt looking at cars which aren’t right for you.
We have also added this feature to our iPhone application which brings instant access to search used vehicles on our database. The new improved design for iOS7 works perfectly with the HD video and image selection that we now offer to the buyer.
