BMW 2-Series Grand Tourer

The BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer is the latest addition to the BMW 2-Series range, building on the success of last year's five-seat Active Tourer. It features 7 seats making this an extremely practical car for its dimensions. In fact, the Gran Tourer is only 21cm longer than the Active Tourer, yet it manages to fit in an extra row of seats.

The seats fold out of the boot floor and give the BMW the ability to carry up to seven adults on short journeys. Plus, with 560 litres of boot space as standard, there's no mistaking that this is a practical car.

Features: All models in the Grand Tourer range receive an automatic tailgate with electronic folding for easy loading. The 2-Series has plenty of entertainment features too, including DAB Radio, Bluetooth connectivity and USB interface. Great news for families on longer journeys! Everything is controlled from the central 6.5 inch screen.

Safety: There are no worries here - the 2-Series Grand Tourer safety features are extensive, and built on a strong safety cell. Full, all-round airbags are standard equipment in addition to emergency city braking which helps to reduce the impact of low-speed collisions.

The Land Rover Discovery

A preowned Land Rover Discovery is the original family SUV, and features seven full-size seats as standard making it great for larger familes with three to four children and multiple child seats. The Discovery is well-renowned for its spacious interior, and the in-ride levels of comfort are extremely impressive. The Discovery is as perfectly set up for long motorway cruises as it is for short journeys.

Scoring high on practicality, rear load capacity with all seven seats up stands at 280 litres. It also makes an excellent tow car for weekend family breaks with the caravan or trailer, with the powerful V6 turbodiesel making light work of the largest loads.

Features: Land Rover Discovery equipment is plentiful, and all models receive the coveted Land Rover Air Suspension system which keeps the ride extremely comfortable. Climate control, rear parking sensors and full electric windows are also amongst standard equipment.

Safety: The Land Rover Discovery received a four-star NCAP safety rating for both Adult and Child occupant protection. Front, side, and curtain airbags come as standard, along with Dynamic Stability Control and Active Roll Mitigation which keep the large frame of the Land Rover firmly planted to the road. 2014 models onwards add even more features such as blind spot monitoring, reverse traffic detection and T-junction cameras.
