The new engine is change from the naturally aspirated V8 with the inline six cylinder having two mono-scroll turbochargers developed by BMW M. The benefit of the turbochargers means more power, more torque and increased fuel economy for this M model. A monstrous 550Nm of torque is available from 1,850 rpm which is exactly the same point of which 424 bhp is achieved and maintained till 7,300 rpm which is gives a greater band of power regardless where you are in the rev range.
The M division have made sure you know this a M model with the iconic quad exhaust system ensures an unmistakeable M sound. They have used advanced weight saving technology and aerodynamics to maximising performance and efficiency with a low kerb weight of 1,750 kg through the use of aluminium bonnet, front wings, chassis components while carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) used in the crank shaft and strut brace in the engine bay.
The M4 Convertible features various aerodynamic features for reduce drag and downforce by the front apron, smooth underbody and Aero curtains, twin-stalk door mirrors and M side gills with integral Air-Breathers behind the front wheels.

All this is achieved with a raft of EfficientDynamics fuel saving technologies: Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, Optimum Shift Indicator (in manual mode only with the M DCT transmission), on-demand operation of ancillary units, a map-controlled oil pump and a final drive with optimised warm-up behaviour.
