As the first day of spring passed Stratstone Ferrari held an open day for owners and enthusiasts offering both the opportunity to test drive in the latest models with a professional instructor.
An array of Ferrari models
lined the dealership front to tempt guest’s inner supercar passion for the Italian brand. As doors opened guests were welcomed by the Stratstone Ferrari team and once registered they were presented with their lanyard badge for the event.
Depending on the time of arrival, a selection of exquisite canapés were presented, accompanied by a choice of refreshments served throughout the day.
Once settled in owners were welcomed to hand over their vehicle to receive a complimentary vehicle health check, alternatively head straight to the main event and test drive one of the latest Ferrari models.
The range of vehicles available were the F12berlinetta and 458 Italia
both the essence of a modern Ferrari with F1 racing technology.
F12berlinetta is Ferrari’s latest GT model which replaced the 599 in 2012. This GT model has a naturally aspirated 6.3 litre V12 developing 730bhp allowing it to reach a top speed of over 210mph.
The 458 Italia arrived in 2010 to rave reviews from critics saying the new model set a benchmark for supercars with its mid-engine V8. This model was followed up with an open top version called the Spider in 2011 for enthusiast to indulge in the 460bhp V8 engine.
The road cars weren’t the only cars on display with the track focused 458 Challenge racer sitting millimetres from the ground. The 458 Challenge lapped the Fiorano test track just 0.2 seconds slower than the £2 million Ferrari FXX a high performance race version of the Enzo Ferrari. The Challenge version differs from the road car by having thinner body panels, carbon fibre panels, polycarbonate windows and windscreen.
The cockpit has been changed to house the roll cage for safety while racing seats and racing steering wheel and removal of sound deadening complete the weight saving measures. On the outside there are racing wheels, front and rear toe hooks, racing fuel filler and air jacking mount to raise the car up in the pits.
There was a selection of approved Ferrari to choose from with both the F430
Spider and 458 Spider sitting alongside each other.
If you were yet to see the forthcoming La Ferrari there was a 1:8 scale model on show along with the 458 GT3 and Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta. These model were crafted by utilising CAD and 3D scanning then hand assembled to ensure their parts match the life size counterparts.
As individuality is something Ferrari understands, they allow their client’s to customise their cars to match their desires through the tailor made programme.
