The BMW GB Classic Car Relay is the only independent manufacturer-recognised Club for BMW enthusiasts within the UK. In honour of the BMW Centenary celebrating 100 years of BMW, an 'Around Great Britain Relay' has been progressing through the UK. On Saturday 21st May it came calling at a trio of our Stratstone BMW retail centres as the GB Relay made its way through Derbyshire and Yorkshire during the BMW Open Weekend Event, where customers were invited to feel the wind in their hair in a BMW Convertible.
The Classic Car Relay visited our Doncaster, Chesterfield and Derby retailers for a 20 minute pit-stop, where a BMW i8 1:18 scale model was passed onto a driver from the retailer who then travelled to the next scheduled stop to pass the baton. With a fantastic collection of over 20 BMW icons, guests attending event got the chance to get up close to vehicles including an 840Ci Sport Individual E31, 728i Sport E38, M3 E36 3.0 Motorsport Edition and also a super rare E46 CSL - quite the collection!
Stratstone BMW Doncaster welcomed guests with breakfast and a spectacular BMW Convertible Classic on display before heading on to Stratstone BMW Chesterfield. Here the team welcomed the Relay by offering more breakfast treats and non-alcoholic bubbles for guests, with an outdoor photo booth and a warming send-off. Last but by no means least, there was a great turnout from Stratstone Club heritage customers who were on hand at Stratstone BMW Derby to enjoy the atmosphere and share tales of their beloved cars.
Howard Walker, Chairman of the Eastern BMW Car Club thanked the Stratstone business for their great contribution to the Relay! Thanks to all Stratstone Club members that came down to experience this special day.
