Earlier this month, guests of Stratstone Ferrari Wilmslow and Stratstone Morgan were invited to visit one of Britain's greatest automotive treasures - Shelsley Walsh. This legendary motoring venue is nestled in the rolling Worcester countryside and has hosted MAC Speed Hill Climbs since 1901.
The 1000-yard track is the first purpose-built motor racing track which is still in constant use and Stratstone co-founder Ernest Instone won the first Hill Climb there in 1905. With a view to giving loyal Stratstone customers the true Shelsley Walsh experience, we gave them an access-all-areas pass to the Hill Climb.
The weekend of June 6th and 7th played host to the Shelsley Walsh Best of British event, the venue's second Hill Climb of the 2015 season. It was a great day weather wise with glorious sunshine and clear skies setting the perfect scene for the hot championship competition.
The race meet welcomed sports cars, saloons, and vintage classics to various class races through the weekend. A thrilling day by all accounts, the fastest time of the event went to driver Jos Goodyear who completed the climb in just 23.03 seconds.
Stratstone guests got the chance to see the hill climb reach its climax with the two top twelve run-off heats. Access All Areas also gave visitors the chance to experience the heat of the action in the paddock and pits, where teams were setting up and making adjustments to their cars. Taking a stroll on to the hill gives fantastic views of the track, or a chance to find shade from the warm June weather.
Guests were also entitled to a complementary meal at the Stratstone Café within the venue's courtyard. We look forward to our next event at the Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia event next July.
