The new MINI might look familiar but it is a new model from the ground up with a longer wheelbase, new ground breaking engines, start of the art connectivity and technology. All those features which hallmark a MINI a MINI are still there like the classic MINI design language inside and outside along with the infamous go karting handling.
The new MINI Hatch builds upon all the characteristics which make a mini a MINI whilst being bigger more, safer, even more dynamic and better built than the last generation model.
On the inside everything is an evolution on the MINI design language of retro chic whilst being connected as MINI connected keeps all the online based services in your MINI from web radio to Facebook. MINI connected XL is there to help guide you with real time traffic information while a Heads up display is new feature to MINI which relays relevant information to driver.
Mood lighting has been changed to create a better ambience inside with bezel of the central display change with the mood lighting. The lighting bezel works in harmony with safety and technology features in the new MINI from parking to safety warnings. A key safety feature is a permanent installed SIM card which is there for optional functions such as Emergency call and In an event of an accident the system detects the vehicles location, accident severity and contacts a call centre for fast and effective assistance.
The technology continues with the driver assistance option which adds a camera based cruise control and based control function to keep you in predetermined distance from the vehicle ahead. It also includes a pedestrian and collision warning system with road sign detection, initial brake function and high beam assistant. Parking assistance and rear view camera have been added on to the MINI options list to make it easier to park in those tight parking spaces.
The whole range has keyless go and the engine being started/stopped by a switch located in the middle of the centre console which pulses red before the engine starts.
Inside the cabin, new technology ensures that the new MINI is the most connected car in its segment. A new central LED display, the first of its kind, provides the driver with visual feedback whilst operating the car and creates a premium ambience. It reflects a maturity and confidence in the brand’s design and engineering, a car which pays tribute to its unique British heritage yet stands ready to lead MINI into the second half of this decade and beyond.
Dynamics and technology have become one with MINI new six speed manual gearbox which rev matches on the downshifts while the automatic gearbox shifts faster than the manual and returns better fuel with lower emissions. The bezel around the gear knob allows you change the driving modes from green, normal and sport to suit your driving mode.
On the both the inside and outside the MINI is bigger with it being 8mm longer, 44 mm wider and 4mm taller which gives more room of four occupants and 30% more luggage space at 211 litres boot space (rear bench seats can be spilt 60:40).
