Introducing the Land Rover Defender Electric Hybrid
A modernised icon, reinvented and available as a plug-in electric hybrid; the Land Rover Defender plug-in electric hybrid is the most powerful and fuel-efficient model of the Defender range.
Re-imagined for the 21st century, the Land Rover Defender manages to retain its original character, whilst its distinctive silhouette is instantly recognisable.
The Defender plug-in electric hybrid model, available with the 110 body design, is badged as the P400e. Fitted with Electronic Air Suspension, 3-zone climate control, Privacy Glass, Solar Attenuating Glass and 20-inch alloy wheels as standard, the Defender P400e is available with the option of five or six seats.
Range and Performance
The new Defender P400e plug-in electric hybrid delivers an incredible 398bhp thanks to the combination of a powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 105Kw electric motor.
It is capable of running in all-electric mode with zero tailpipe emissions for up to 27 miles, including off-road. In fact, the immediate torque from the electric motor actually enables the Defender to be even more competent off-road.
Producing as little as 76g/km of CO2 and achieving impressive fuel economy of up to 84.5mpg, the Defender P400e harnesses the power to leap from 0 to 62mph in a remarkable time of around 5.4 seconds. Furthermore, the P400e has the ability to tow up to 3,000kg.
Charging
The charging port is located on the left-hand side of the Defender P400e and comes with a Mode 3 charging cable as standard, however, an optional Mode 2 cable is also available.
Using the Mode 3 charging cable, you can charge up to 80 percent in two hours, whilst a Mode 2 cable would take around seven hours to reach the same level of charge. The Mode 2 cable is perfect to use at home for overnight charging. Alternatively, using a 50Kw rapid charge, you can charge up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
Regenerative braking is an additional feature on the Defender P400e, recuperating energy lost under deceleration and braking, then sending it back into the battery pack.
Land Rover Charging makes maximising your Defender's battery an effortless task, thanks to the wide range of public charging stations across the UK.
