Introducing the Aston Martin DBX and DBX707

The DBX represents a landmark moment for the British Marque, because it is their first foray into the world of SUVs. Aston Martin implemented a rigorous testing programme during the development of the DBX, which has been designed to capture the soul of a sports car without compromising on luxury or off-road capability.

Very few could have predicted that the next step for Aston Martin would include an SUV. After all, they are a brand largely synonymous with grand touring coupés and sumptuous sports cars.

However, the DBX has been designed to capture the very best of Aston Martin, while offering an entirely new element that can be utilised by a wider market. In short, it is a very exciting step forward.

DBX707 takes the first Aston Martin SUV to new levels.

Design and Practicality

Aston Martin DBX Boot Space

Thanks to extensive research and development, the DBX boasts class-leading head and legroom. The unmatched space is complemented by a fantastic feeling of airiness, which comes courtesy of a full-length panoramic glass roof.

Aston Martin's designers have spent a great deal of time perfecting one of the interior's standout features, a bridged centre console, creating a floating aesthetic that offers storage space below for larger items such as a handbag or large water bottle.

Similar to their sports cars, Aston Martin have utilised bonded aluminium during the creation of the DBX, which helps to reduce weight and increase the stiffness of the construction. It is transparently clear that Aston Martin have perfectly combined sporting dynamics with premium refinement.

Speaking of storage, the DBX is equipped with a 632-litre boot, which is notably bigger than most rivals within this segment.

Interior and Technology

Aston Martin DBX Interior

Integrated seamlessly within the beautifully sculpted dashboard lies the new TFT screens, which, despite their remarkable size, do not interrupt the tasteful flow of the interior design. The infotainment system itself offers beautifully presented menus that provide effortless and intuitive navigation between features and settings.

Innovative technology can be found within the DBX's chassis, too. Adaptive Triple Chamber Air Springs allow the driver to adjust the spring stiffness to suit their driving style, while it also allows the ride height to be raised by 45mm or lowered by 50mm; essential for tackling any terrain in complete confidence.

Aston Martin have implemented electronic adaptive damping on every corner, which helps to maximise comfort for up to five occupants, while maintaining engaging driving dynamics.

Engines and Performance

Aston Martin DBX Driving, Rear

Under the bonnet, Aston Martin have fitted a characterful 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine.

The headline figures are 542bhp and 516lb ft, which translate to a 0 to 62mph time of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 181mph. Considering the DBX weighs a not unsubstantial 2,245kg (lightweight for a large SUV in this segment), those are staggering performance figures.

Continuing the theme of blending sports car dynamics and premium refinement, the active exhaust system has been carefully engineered to sound sophisticated one moment, and breathtaking the next.

Power is transmitted to each wheel through a nine-speed gearbox, which has been programmed to offer seamless shifts regardless of the driving conditions. The responsive paddle shifters behind the wheel offer a more involving driving experience for those occasions that command manual input.

The DBX707 builds on the foundations of the original car by adding more power alongside a comprehensive suite of performance upgrades.

Producing more power from its 4.0-litre V8, DBX707 is engineered to deliver intoxicating levels of acceleration. Changes to the exterior have been made to enhance the aerodynamics, and increase road presence.

Carbon ceramic brakes and a new clutch assert DBX707 as a luxury SUV that offers unparalleled driving dynamics.
