Design and Practicality
Encompassing a striking new silhouette which features a reimagined Hofmeister kink - a legendary BMW design feature. Athletic and dynamic detailing ensures the new BMW 1 Series pays homage to BMW's motor racing heritage, which is seen even more so in the newly re-imagined one-piece kidney grille - featuring a mesh design on the M135i xDrive.
Full LED lights with stunning hexagonal icon daytime lights now come as standard on the new BMW 1 Series, offering enhanced visibility, a longer lifespan and are also more efficient. A new range of colours are also available for the body - some of which are exclusive to the M135i, such as Misano Blue Metallic.
Technology and Safety
This all-new BMW 1 Series isn't just enhanced on the exterior either. The interior has also undergone a complete overhaul, yet still encompasses the classy refinement expected from a BMW. High-quality material choice ensures you know you are behind the wheel of something special.
A fully digital 5.1-inch black panel instrument cluster is complemented by a large 8.8-inch infotainment screen displaying all the necessary information to keep you entertained and in control on each drive - as well as connected thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As standard, the BMW 1 Series features some excellent safety features. These include Active Guard Plus, lane departure warning, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and automatic headlights.
Engines and Performance
Being a BMW, you can be assured you are not going to be longing for performance. Although, you will be pleased to learn that you can in fact have your cake, and eat it, thanks to the new BMW 1 Series also offering excellent fuel economy and remarkably low emissions.
The new front-wheel drive layout allows for more interior space, but the engineers have gone to great lengths to ensure that the 1 Series drives as well as you would expect. BMW have a habit of adapting their vehicles to ensure legislation is met, yet still manage to maintain the BMW trait of 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'.
Both petrol and diesel engines are available, ranging from 1.5-litres, up to a 2.0-litres. Economy ranges from 35 to over 60mpg. The range-topping M135i is the one to go for if you are a keen driver, with 0-62mph undertaken in just 4.8 seconds.
