Tailored to your lifestyle. Introducing the brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLB, the most versatile compact SUV in the Mercedes-Benz model line-up.

Sharing a similar name to the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class - aka Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, the GLB has its work cut out to be even slightly similar to its legendary sibling. But let's not forget, this is a Mercedes-Benz. Therefore, this is very much another fine looking SUV, to add to the impressive selection already available as part of the comprehensive Mercedes-Benz SUV range.

Mercedes-Benz offer a more than comprehensive selection of SUV models which are now joined by their most compact offering,in the form of this GLB model. Despite using underpinnings from the most compact Mercedes-Benz cars, namely the A-Class and B-Class, the exterior of the Mercedes-Benz GLB is suitably familiar with its chunky SUV looks and versatile long wheelbase. The dominating three-pointed star ensures the GLB has a commanding road presence, which is complimented by its various alloy wheel designs, and 4x4 profile.

Measuring 4634mm in length, 1658mm in height and 1834mm in width, the GLB may be compact in terms of the Mercedes-Benz SUV line up, but it's still a sizable SUV as a whole - which is always good to see on a comprehensive SUV, especially with such a prestige name as Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz have completely redesigned their interior stance, and the GLB falls inline with the rest of the newly designed, state-of-the-art models. Of course, we first saw the new interior design language within the all-new A-Class, comprising of its striking digital widescreen cockpit/ infotainment system - running clever MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) technology. This is complimented by beautifully designed interior elements, such as the aluminium-look turbine vents, ergonomic switch gear, and premium material choice.

Although this is the most compact Mercedes-Benz SUV available, you can choose from two seating choices, the standard five-seat option, or ultra-versatile seven-seat option. The fact that seven-seats is offered in a entry-level SUV is really impressive, and will most likely appeal to many.

As mentioned previously, the interior of the Mercedes-Benz GLB is where the state-of-the-art technology is most obvious. This is thanks to MBUX which learns human behavior from artificial intelligence, meaning driving is much more stress-free and creates an emotional connection between driver, and the brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLB. Therefore, the GLB can learn driver behavior, preferences and can help make driving more pleasurable. For example, if you regularly  make a phone call using the cars hands-free capability at a certain time of the day (for example on the commute home from work) the car will prompt you should you forget.

From launch, a GLB200 and GLB250 will be available. The former comprises of a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 161bhp, whilst the GLB250 features a 2.0-litre engine with a more potent 218bhp.

Joining the two petrol engines, the GLB will also have two diesel options available from launch too. These are the GLB200d, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 148bhp, or a 187bhp version in the GLB220d 4Matic - which, if you know your Mercedes-Benz terminology means this version has all-wheel drive.

A seven-speed dual clutch gearbox comes as standard in the GLB, whilst all the other versions mentioned feature an eight-speed transmission instead.

With typical Mercedes-Benz state-of-the-art technology, impressive engine choice and the attractive appeal a Mercedes-Benz gives, the GLB should have no trouble in joining the rest of the popular Mercedes-Benz SUV range. A further offering of specification and trim choices will join the GLB range, including exciting AMG versions, such as a GLB35 and GLB45 - both featuring 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Of course, as electric vehicles become even more popular and impressive, an electric version of the GLB SUV will also be on the cards in 2021.
