Black Aperta on the 70 Years podium More Photos

1st August 2017 saw Stratstone celebrate Ferrari’s 70th Birthday in style at Capesthorne Hall, south of Wilmslow in Cheshire.

At around 8am, Capesthorne Hall was greeted by the sound of glorious Ferrari V12’s. The current flagship is undoubtedly the LaFerrari, and Stratstone were thrilled to have four stunning examples of this unbelievable hypercar join. A black LaFerrari was joined by two equally spectacular examples of the LaFerrari Aperta. Amazingly, these were later joined by yet another LaFerrari Aperta.

As time progressed from morning to the afternoon, a selection of more fine Ferrari supercars arrived, producing a magnificent display of the famous Italian marque. Perhaps one of the most famous examples, The Ferrari Enzo, named after Enzo Ferrari, founder of Ferrari, looked amazing next to the modern LaFerrari. Although first introduced around 15 years ago, the Enzo still looks futuristic, taking a lot of inspiration from Ferrari F1 cars.

Joining the Enzo, a handful of front-engine examples of the Ferrari F12 looked terrific in several colours – including a stunning yellow F12 TdF which joined the multiple prancing horses in the courtyard. These were later joined by a handful of Ferrari 458 Speciales, and even a classic Ferrari Daytona, the ‘60s vintage Ferrari joining them too.

The event didn’t officially open to the public until 2pm, and up until this point Ferrari owners kept arriving in an array of superb models from the iconic 70-year history, which soon filled up the lawn in front of Capesthorne Hall. Throughout the morning and afternoon, each car was stickered with a number, in preparation for the parade through Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. Despite the weather changing from dry overcast, to heavy rain, to glorious sunshine, it didn’t stop the owners and public turning out in force.

Around 3.30pm, owners gathered for an impressive photo surrounding the LaFerrari Aperta provided by Ferrari. Shortly after, owners started their engines and proceeded in numerical order in convoy to depart Capesthorne Hall and head for Stratstone Wilmslow Ferrari.

Led by the three LaFerrari Aperta examples, and the LaFerrari, the unbelievable Ferrari convoy which included 84 cars departed Capesthorne Hall in the direction of Stratstone Wilmslow Ferrari. Along the route, members of the public gathered at the side of the road, from office windows, cafes, restaurants and various vantage points to witness the incredible parade of these evocative machines driving past, featuring the distinct Ferrari engine and exhaust notes.

Onlookers stood in amazement from side of the road from various vantage points, along with others viewing from cafes, restaurants and office windows capturing all the action on their smartphones. Both children and adults waved, smiled and cheered as these 84 Ferraris caused quite a stir whilst in convoy. It’s always great seeing one Ferrari, but when 84 are all in convoy, well that is quite something.

On arrival, each of the 84 Ferrari models parked up within the grounds of the Ferrari Wilmslow service centre, with many of the owners attending a three-course dinner within the showroom, rounding off the 70th Anniversary celebrations with the unveiling of the all-new Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Guests were joined by Ferrari racing driver Sam Smeeth, along with automotive YouTuber Mr JWW, rounding off an excellent day celebrating this truly iconic brand.

Stratstone would like to thank all those who made the 70 Years of Ferrari Celebrations so successful, and with that said, Happy Birthday Ferrari!
