Ferrari Challenge was first created back in 1993, after owners of Ferrari 348 road cars wanted to get into motor racing. The series has gone on from strength to strength and the formula today sees Ferrari owners racing their very own Ferrari race cars, in championships which happen in Europe, North America and Asia. In more recent years the cars which have competed have included the later Ferrari F430 and Ferrari 458 models. 2017 saw the inclusion of the Ferrari 488 race car - the latest race version of the already awe-inspiring Ferrari 488 road car. The 488 race car will also be used for the 2018 season.
Owning a Ferrari is a mere dream for many, however, for the lucky owners out there, simply owning isn't enough for some. Consequently, Ferrari Challenge gives owners of these incredible cars the opportunity to become a full-on racing driver in this exciting race series. Unsurprisingly, it costs a considerable amount to enter, plus when you factor in the never-ending costs to be competitive in motor racing - including spare parts, mechanics, fuel, tyres - well, it all adds up, even for the privileged owners of Ferrari's. However, there is also the possibility of getting help from sponsors and that's where the relationship of Stratstone and Sam Smeeth come into play.
Sam Smeeth drives in the Ferrari Challenge race series for team 'Stratstone Ferrari' in which last season he used his 458 Challenge racing car - car number 92. Sam's Ferrari Challenge debut was back in 2013, at Mugello, and he has since gone onto win the European Championship in his fourth season, in 2016 - tallying up an impressive 235 points.
With 2017's third place World Final success, we cannot wait to see what the 2018 season holds for Sam.
