Introducing the Aston Martin Valhalla
Representing a new generation of Aston Martin, Valhalla is a true British supercar that defines the 'Mastery of Driving'.
Valhalla recruits plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV) to spearhead the brand's transition towards hybrid and fully-electric vehicles. In addition, Valhalla has been engineered to reflect Aston Martin's presence in Formula One®, while setting the standards for performance in its class.
Alongside scintillating performance and unrivalled driving dynamics, Valhalla constitutes a technological showcase that will allow the British marque to continue building for the future.
Production is set for 2023, in which time Aston Martin will continue to revise Valhalla. In the meantime, you can register your interest through your preferred Stratstone Aston Martin retailer.
Chassis and Aerodynamics
Utilising a carbon fibre tub, Valhalla has been engineered to offer rigidity without compromising on kerb weight, with a dry weight of 1,550kg set as the target. Active aerodynamics, which come courtesy of features such as the rear spoiler and diffuser, ensure Valhalla will produce 600kg of downforce at 150mph.
Complementing the vast amount of downforce are the staggered centerlock wheels. 20-inch wheels feature on the front axle, while larger 21-inch wheels can be found on the rear. Developed specifically for Valhalla are tyres that have been created by Michelin, with the front wheels boasting a 285mm width and the rears benefitting from 335mm of road surface contact.
Sitting behind the wheels are high performance Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes, which have been engineered to produce unparalleled stopping power. Maximising the capability of the monocoque, tyres and brakes is multi-link rear suspension and push-rod technology on the front. This set up is heavily influenced by Formula One®, making it more than fitting for a supercar of the Valhalla's nature.
Interior and Technology
Sitting just below the flagship Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, Valhalla has been designed to offer a sensational driving experience on the road, as well as the track. Valhalla benefits from a larger cockpit when compared to the Valkyrie, yet retains design cues from Formula One® cars.
The cabin has been pared back to remain driver-focussed, yet luxuries such as an innovative infotainment system with central touchscreen are standard fit. In addition, the system incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone connectivity.
Courtesy of the adjustable pedals and steering column, the seat bases can be fixed to the chassis structure, and are tailored to the driver when configuring their car. Raised footwells ensure a low hip-to-heel seating position, which is redolent of a Formula One® car.
Valhalla boasts a number of driver assistance systems, which include:
- Active Cruise Control
- Forward Collision Warning
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Rear View Parking Camera (with Surround View option)
Engine and Performance
Sitting within Valhalla's carbon fibre structure is an all-new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The main source of power is derived from a rear-mid-mounted 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine, which recruits two turbochargers.
The bespoke engine revs to 7,200rpm and develops an output of 739bhp, making it the most advanced V8 engine ever fitted to an Aston Martin. Working in tandem with the traditional engine is the 400v battery hybrid system, which contributes an additional 201bhp.
Depending on the driving mode selected, the power generated by the battery hybrid system can be split between the front and rear axle. Alternatively, 100 percent of the electric power can be sent directly to the rear wheels for maximum performance.
Unleash the total 936bhp that is available and Valhalla will achieve the 0 to 62mph sprint in an astonishing 2.5 seconds, and will relentlessly accelerate until hitting a top speed of 217mph.
Valhalla can run solely on electric power, and is capable of travelling up to 9 miles at a maximum speed of 80mph.
