Introducing the BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid

Functional, spacious and even more economical; the BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) returns up to an impressive 235.4mpg and can venture on an all-electric drive for up to an astonishing 54 miles.

Building on the luxuriousness and performance the petrol and diesel powered X5 delivers, the X5 xDrive45e has been enhanced to provide a thrilling drive with a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. In fact, whilst in pure electric mode, the X5 PHEV produces zero tailpipe emissions.

If you are regularly driving within ultra low emissions zones in cities, you will be able to enter these free of charge in the X5 PHEV, whilst in all-electric mode.

Range and Performance

"Hey BMW, tell us something impressive about the X5 Plug-in Hybrid."

It is difficult to divulge just the one thing that is impressive about the plug-in hybrid version of the X5, as not only does it boast a pure electric range of up to 54 miles it can zoom from zero to 62mph in 5.6 seconds, which is truly remarkable for a vehicle of this size.

Equally as monumental is the superior xDrive, which enables exceptionally precise handling of the powerful, yet economic, SUV.

Last but not least, the X5 xDrive45e combines a 3.0-litre petrol engine with the BMW eDrive electric motor to deliver a scintillating 389bhp, whilst returning up to 235.4mpg.

Charging

Charging of the X5 Plug-in Hybrid can be completed at home, at work or on the move.

With convenience in mind, installing a BMW i Wallbox at your home makes the most sense. The Wallbox will charge the battery from empty to 80% capacity in around 5 hours, or to full in about 6.8 hours. Plug-in your vehicle overnight and it will be charged and ready to take you wherever you need to go the following day.

Without the Wallbox you can use a conventional plug socket to charge the X5 PHEV, however you should anticipate a slower charging time.

Thanks to thousands of public charging points, located around the UK, you can now charge up whilst out and about.

Test drive the BMW X5 Plug-in Hybrid

Plain and simple, the X5 Plug-in Hybrid offers all the perks of a BMW luxury performance SUV with the added benefits of a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Lower running costs, immediate acceleration and a reduction in tailpipe emissions are just a few of the benefits you can expect from the electrified Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).
