A special run of classic Land Rover Defender models is being created to mark the brand’s off-road expertise across the globe – and each model will cost at least £225,000.

Just 25 versions of the Defender Works V8 Trophy ll vehicles are to be produced by the Coventry-based Land Rover Classic team.

A special exterior finish of a camouflage paint job has been created for the specials, which features 23 locations that have played a part in Land Rover’s exploration adventures for more than 70 years.

Silhouettes of Defender and Series Land Rovers are ‘hidden’ within the design which will appear on 90 and 110 Station Wagon body designs as well a limited number of five 110 Double Cab Pick-Ups which for the first time will be available with a V8 engine.

The Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy models will be created using Defender models from 2012-2016, stripped and rebuilt by hand by the team at Land Rover Classic.

Each vehicle will be powered by a 405ps 5.0-litre engine with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, uprated brakes and handling kit.

Additional all-terrain equipment includes a front A-frame with integrated winch, a full-width LED light bar, rock sliders, an expedition exterior roll cage and rear recovery point

Interior features include two-tone Recaro Windsor Leather sports seats, dashboard and trim, Land Rover Classic Infotainment System and a clock face created by luxury British watchmakers Elliot Brown that mirrors the camouflage.

The camouflage finish includes places from The Camel Trophy, The First Overland, and the G4 Challenge, which have seen Land Rover vehicles drive in some of the harshest terrains on the planet.

Michael van der Sande, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: “The Defender has conquered terrains across the world. Our latest Classic Works V8 Trophy II honours this expedition heritage in its unique exterior design, paying homage to some of these stunning locations.

“Each of the 25 vehicles available is a labour of love, sourced, assembled and remastered by our passionate specialist team. As well as taking delivery of a highly collectible vehicle, our owners will have the unique opportunity to put theirs to the ultimate test in a bespoke Land Rover Trophy event.”

The special Defenders can be purchased direct from Land Rover Classic, with prices starting from £225,000 for a 90 model.

Prices correct as of 28/07/22 and are subject to change.
