Mercedes-Benz Launches Luxury All-Electric EQS SUV

The brand-new Mercedes-Benz EQS all-electric luxury SUV is now on sale, with prices starting from £129,170.

Two powertrain options are available from launch – the EQS SUV 450 and the 580 with the latter priced from £139,170.

Both are four-wheel drive with seven seats, and both have ranges of around 365 miles.

Two specifications are being offered – Premium Plus and Business Class – with the higher grade models priced from £143,495 and £153.495 respectively.

Performance figures for the EQS 450 4MATIC which has a motor developing 355bhp are a 0 to 62mph time of 6.0 seconds while the EQS 580 4MATIC, which has 537bhp on tap, comes in at 4.6 seconds.

Recharging at fast chargers can be done to 80 percent in just over half-an-hour, while luggage space in normal set up ranges from 565 to 2,020 litres.

Premium Plus includes digital light with light band, a panoramic roof, 22-inch alloys, and head-up display and while Business Class specification includes the MBUX augmented head-up display, rear entertainment and a comfort package.

On road dynamics are helped with the addition of rear-wheel steering improving agility at slower speeds, with the rear wheels working alongside the front wheel steering angle at speed to aid stability and handling.

Other hi-tech features see the car being fitted with the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen infotainment system, which has three display panels combining to create a wide screen output across the dashboard. It is standard on the 580 and an option on the EQS 450.
