Introducing the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Exterior Charging

The Mercedes-Benz B-Class may well be a hatchback, but practicality has been increased to ensure family life can run a lot smoother, without having to neglect style, efficiency, or technology in the process.

Safety and comfort are just two of the key attributes the B-Class boasts. Drivers can relax knowing that all occupants of the B-Class will enjoy the fun journey this family hatchback offers in the safest possible manner.

Various powertrains are available, including the popular diesel engines, but the petrol range has now been electrified and is equipped with mild hybrid technology for a cleaner means of travel. There is also the impressive plug-in hybrid, for those that want the ultimate in efficiency.

Design and Practicality

A luxury hatchback with dynamic lines and a spacious bodystyle. The B-Class may well feature enhanced space and practicality, but it still finds the right level of fine design and attention to detail.

Multiple models mean you can specify your B-Class to suit your preferred style, and the latest updates see the B-Class boast a redesigned front end for a sharper, more confident stance. Aerodynamics have also been enhanced thanks to the likes of aero spoilers attached to the side of the rear window, allowing you to seamlessly glide through a range of environments.

Details finished in chrome and gloss black add a touch of contrast to this premium Mercedes-Benz vehicle, which looks classy in any model level. The new-style grille perfectly combines the iconic three-pointed star to give the B-Class proper Mercedes-Benz character.

Technology and Safety

Mercedes-Benz B-Class Interior

In keeping with the Mercedes-Benz reputation, the B-Class joins the model line-up with a truly cutting-edge interior experience. This is thanks to dual, high-resolution and definition screens – one of which displays the car's instruments, whilst the other is for the car's infotainment.

LED back-lit turbine vents distribute the car's temperature and air-conditioning functions with purpose, whilst also enhancing style. There is also the applauded MBUX system, meaning operating and spending time in the B-Class is much more enjoyable and convenient.

Customisation is at its peak in the latest B-Class, with various materials to choose from that are constructed using recycled items wherever possible as part of Mercedes-Benz' push for Ambition 2039, as well as seven digital 'colour worlds' allowing you to craft a vibe that suits.

Engines and Performance

As with many practical vehicles, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class comes in a range of different variations and engine choices. A multitude of familiar diesel engines are available, as well as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option, but the petrol engines now come equipped with mild hybrid technology.

There are four mild hybrid petrol engines to choose from, ranging from 1.4 litres to 2.0 litres with differing amounts of power. The impressive 4MATIC all-wheel drive system is also available on the larger engines, ideal for the most adventurous of families.

If you are on the hunt for a diesel engine you can choose between the B 180 d, B 200 d, and B 220 d; all featuring a powerful 2.0-litre engine with power outputs of 114bhp, 148bhp, and 187bhp respectively. Diesel variants can return up to 62mpg.

Finally, there is the B 250 e plug-in hybrid, which offers a combined power output of 215bhp and up to 282mpg combined; a fantastic option in terms of efficiency.

Charging

Should you opt for the impressive plug-in hybrid powertrain, the batteries will need to be recharged for you to benefit from maximum efficiency. However, charging your Mercedes-Benz B-Class is simple, thanks to a variety of convenient charging solutions.

Charging options have been improved thanks to an upgraded battery that can now be charged with alternating current up to 11kW, compared to 7.4kW on its predecessor.

Direct current charges are the fastest, with charging times of as little as 25 minutes to get from 10 to 80 percent. A full charge will see your B-Class travel approximately 48 miles before energy is depleted and the ICE kicks in.
