Aston Martin DB11 V8

This V8 offers an incredible amount of power, with 503bhp that propel the Aston Martin DB11 V8 to 62mph in only 4 seconds and a top speed of 187mph.

The Aston Martin DB11 V8 is unsurprisingly 115kg lighter than the DB11 V12. The engine has also been mounted as low as possible to achieve a lower centre-of-gravity; which combined with the light weight ensures an involving, dynamic driving experience. Along with an interior offering the epitome of luxury, the new Aston Martin DB11 V8 is a superb addition to the Aston Martin grand tourer range.

At first glance, the glorious DB11 V8 shape looks to be near identical to the V12. The same magnificent silhouette is easily identifiable as an Aston Martin DB11, but a few minor styling cues let you know it's a V8. Gazing at the front of the car, you'll notice the V8 bonnet contains only two vents, whereas the V12 uses four. Unique alloy wheel designs are adopted on the V8, along with darker headlight bezels. The biggest indication that you are looking at a V8 is the use of 'ASTON MARTIN' lettering, under the famous Aston Martin 'Wings' badge on the rear of the car. Interestingly, this is the first Aston Martin to adopt this.

Aston Martin DB11 V8 Volante

The main difference between the Volante and the normal DB11 is the addition of a canvas-roof that folds away at the touch of a button, which manages to add more style and elegance to a car that was already at the top of the ladder in those categories. At the touch of a button, the roof will lower itself in 14 seconds and can close again in just 16 seconds, this can be achieved at speeds of up to 31mph.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking Aston Martin’s signature refinement has been lost with the addition of a soft top. The roof consists of eight thick layers of fabric, which convincingly drowns out road noise at a variety of speeds. There’s also no need to worry about losing out on the driving experience that is common with most soft top vehicles, the Volante has re-worked rear suspension that has been stiffened to ensure the car retains its sporty characteristics.

The V8 Volante shares the same silky smooth 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as the coupe, providing no less than 500bhp directly to the rear wheels. The real performance reveals itself in the sheer amount of torque produced; regardless of what gear the car’s in, there is immense pulling power, making for an effortless GT car.

Aston Martin DB11 V12

An Aston Martin that is fitted with a V12 engine is the embodiment of what a GT car should be, it is the definition of elegance. The DB11 V12 is the natural evolution of the DB9 we expected, the new bonded aluminium chassis is complemented by a host of changes underneath and inside to make a fantastic GT car for all occasions.

Under the bonnet is a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine that produces a potent 600bhp and 516lb-ft torque, which is enough to launch the DB11 to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds – the car will keep pulling all the way to the 200mph mark with ease. Making swift progress is incredibly easy thanks to the eight-speed automatic gearbox.

As you’d expect from a modern Aston Martin, refinement is class-leading. Regardless of the speed you’re doing, the interior is silent – the V12 is completely unstressed at any speed, and the silky-smooth chassis irons out any imperfections on the road. The interior is a fantastic place to be, the high-quality craftsmanship can be felt on every panel you can touch. The stunning 8.0-inch multimedia set-up is crisp and efficient, a welcome companion on any long-distance journey.

Aston Martin DB11 V12 Coupe

Aston Martin DB11 V12 AMR

The flagship of the DB11 range, the car that sits above the V8 Coupe and the V8 Volante. However, this particular model uses a V12 powerplant that has been twin-turbocharged. 630 bhp is at the driver’s disposal and goes straight to the rear wheels, launching the AMR to 62mph in just 3.5 seconds and onwards to 208mph.

A lot of work has been done to the chassis of the DB11 to accommodate the extra hike in power and weight from the ferocious V12 engine. Firmer bushes have been used in the rear subframe, while the dampers have been stiffened by ten per cent on all corners to help keep the car firmly planted. Every Aston Martin puts the driver at the centre of the experience, yet the DB11 V12 AMR has been set up to enhance that experience.

Despite the changes made that have transformed the DB11 V12 into a more sporting car, it hasn’t lost the qualities that make it a class-leading GT car. The quality inside is in a league of its own, as you’d expect from an Aston Martin. The brogue leather on the door, incredible stitching around the sat nav screen and the stunning digital instrument cluster all contribute towards making the AMR a sensational place to spend time, especially on those long cruises to the south of France.
