Exterior Design

Mercedes-AMG GT Exterior, Front

Any prospective customer needs to understand that the Mercedes-AMG GT is more than just a driving experience. From the beginning of the journey to the end, the AMG GT has been designed to be an event that will spike the adrenaline.

The classic sports car lines are there for all to see, with the iconic three-pointed star sitting proud on the panamericana grille, which sits at the end of that iconic long bonnet. The presence continues towards the rear of the car, which perfectly blends function and form.

The engine in the AMG GT - a 4.0-litre V8 that you can learn more about below - is mounted as far back as possible. The end result is freakish agility and perfect balance. Lightweight compounds feature throughout the AMG GT, which translates to a gross weight of around 1,500 kg - that is remarkably low for a car in this class.

Interior and Technology

Mercedes-AMG GT Interior

Inside is not just typical of AMG, it's typical of Mercedes-Benz, period. Every surface around the cabin is finished with plush materials that will age similarly to that of a fine wine. The sharp 10.25-inch multimedia display and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster combine seamlessly to offer necessary driver information as well as slick smartphone connectivity.

An AMG performance steering wheel commands the attention of the driver as soon as they are seated, and features nappa leather alongside touch control pads. The AMG Performance seats are another standout feature of the cabin, and are upholstered in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre.

Opt for the PLUS Package and drivers will benefit from a panoramic sunroof and Burmester surround sound system.

Engines and Performance

Mercedes-AMG GT R

The power plant Mercedes-AMG have opted for is a masterpiece. In essence, it is a 4.0-litre V8 that has two turbochargers fitted between the V of the engine. That's quite the recipe, and one that produces up to 557 bhp and 501 lb/ft.

Putting that power down is certainly no issue thanks to the AMG 7-speed sports transmission, which provides lightning gear changes. Changing the driver mode will alter the behaviour of the gearbox, ideal for different driving styles.

As a result of Mercedes-AMG's relentless pursuit of perfection, the AMG GT achieves an optimal weight distribution of 47% to 53% between the front and rear axle. Meanwhile, AMG high-performance composite brakes ensure stopping power is more than adequate. There is the option to upgrade to Carbon Ceramic brakes.
