Best Luxury Motability Cars Available in 2026

The Motability Scheme has long offered eligible disabled drivers and their families a straightforward, all-inclusive route to a brand-new car. The scheme covers insurance, servicing, breakdown cover and tyre replacement, all funded through a qualifying mobility allowance. For many, it is a lifeline.
Nearly 900,000 people across the UK are currently on the scheme — meaning it accounts for roughly one in every seven new cars purchased in Britain. That makes Motability Operations the largest leasing company in the country. Research from The Scheme's own customer surveys found that 76 percent of scheme users say it means they no longer have to rely on other people to get around. That is not a motoring statistic — it is a quality-of-life one.
For years, the Motability Scheme included some of the most prestigious badges in the business, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Alfa Romeo. But recent changes have reshaped the landscape. While the traditional luxury brands have stepped back, there remains a compelling selection of vehicles that deliver the same qualities — refined comfort, cutting-edge technology and a distinctly premium feel. We will explore some of the best luxury options still available in this blog.

What has changed with the Motability Scheme?
In November 2025, Motability Operations announced one of the most significant overhauls to the vehicle price list in the scheme's history. Several premium brands were taken off the list entirely, including Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz. Coupe and convertible models from other manufacturers were also removed from the list.
Further changes to the scheme's cost structure have been introduced, including VAT on Advance Payments and Insurance Premium Tax on agreements. These changes are expected to increase average Advance Payments by around £400 over a three-year lease, although Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles remain exempt. Despite all of this, over 840 vehicles from around 30 manufacturers remain available, with many carrying no or low Advance Payment.
But luxury has never been purely about the badge on the bonnet. A car that puts you at ease, surrounds you with thoughtful technology and makes you feel well looked after — that experience is still alive and well on the Motability Scheme. Here are ten cars that prove it, all available through Stratstone or our partners at Evans Halshaw.
smart #1

The original smart was conceived in the early 1990s as a collaboration between Daimler and the makers of Swatch watches — hence the name (Swatch Mercedes ART). The tiny ForTwo it spawned has now been entirely replaced by a range of electric SUVs. Few automotive reinventions have been quite so complete.
The fully electric smart #1 is a compact SUV with space for five, a range of up to 273 miles and a refined cabin. Soft-touch materials, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting and a large central touchscreen create an environment that is disarmingly premium.
Every new smart is styled by the Mercedes-Benz global design team but engineered and manufactured by Geely — the Chinese group that also owns Volvo, Lotus and Polestar. It is a car that punches well above its badge in terms of quality and refinement. Aside from its quirky features and looks, the smart #1 remains as solid option for those wanting a high-end finish, sharing many of its features with cousins residing in the Mercedes-Benz line-up.

The original MINI was designed in response to the Suez Crisis of 1956, which led to petrol rationing across Britain. The British Motor Corporation (BMC) tasked Sir Alec Issigonis with building a car that could carry four adults on a fraction of the fuel. It was never meant to become a cultural icon — but then, the best things rarely are.
The Cooper name has meant driving joy for more than six decades, and the current fourth-generation model makes a strong case that the formula still works. The go-kart handling character is alive and well, thanks to a well-tuned chassis and quick, precise steering. This is paired with a modern interior featuring a circular OLED display, toggle switches and up to eight Experience Modes that adjust ambient lighting, sound design and throttle response to suit your mood. The Cooper is a car that feels boutique and considered in a way that few rivals at this price point could ever manage.

MINI Countryman

The MINI Countryman proves the MINI formula scales beautifully. At over 4.4 metres long, it is emphatically not mini — but it retains everything that makes the brand special: the distinctive styling, the carefully crafted interior, the sense that every detail has been thought through. The electric Countryman offers up to 307 miles of range and charges from 10 to 80 percent in just 29 minutes at a rapid public charger.
Inside, a striking 24-centimetre circular OLED display pays homage to the original MINI's speedometer, while the raised seating position and 460-litre boot make it one of the most practically accomplished cars on this list. For Motability customers who want premium character and space, the Countryman is a deeply satisfying option to consider.

MG was founded in Oxford in 1924. After decades of decline and eventual closure, the brand was acquired by SAIC Motor, one of China's largest automotive groups. That successful transformation is clearly reflected in the ZS. It is now one of the UK's best-selling SUVs and a great overachiever in its segment — a compact SUV that delivers an enviable feature list.
The top-specification Trophy variant includes leather-style upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree parking camera and rear privacy glass, alongside a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. MG's seven-year warranty gives real peace of mind well beyond your three-year lease. It is a bigger, more generously equipped car than its price point suggests, and in higher trims, it offers a polished and comfortable experience.

Vauxhall Mokka

The Vauxhall Mokka marked a bold design reset for Vauxhall, shifting towards a more distinctive, less conservative look. Its interior digital layout reflects a wider industry trend away from physical controls towards screen-led cabins. The Vizor dashboard — a single sweeping panel housing two large digital screens — was directly inspired by high-end Opel/Vauxhall concept cars. It is the kind of interior design touch you would expect to pay considerably more for.
A higher driving position aids visibility and makes getting in and out of the car considerably easier — a practical advantage that matters as much as any technology feature. Light steering and a composed, comfortable ride make this compact crossover equally at home on city streets or the motorway, while a broad range of driver-assistance systems add a layer of quiet confidence to every journey. The Mokka is a car that works hard to make driving feel effortless.

For the premium end of mainstream SUV comfort without going for a pure EV, the Hyundai TUCSON is one of the most accomplished choices available on the scheme. It is also one of the most recognisable family SUVs on UK roads, known for its bold design and mile-after-mile reliability.
The hybrid system operates almost seamlessly, the cabin is hushed at motorway speeds, and the TUCSON has earned a strong reputation for long-distance comfort — a quality that matters as much as any spec-sheet feature for many Motability customers. Higher trim levels add features such as quilted leather seating, a large curved digital display, ventilated front seats and a premium Bose audio system, making this one of the most complete mainstream SUVs on this list.

Kia EV3

Few cars on the Motability Scheme have generated as much excitement as the Kia EV3 — a brand-new electric SUV that frankly feels superior to vehicles costing significantly more. The Kia EV3 was named 2025 World Car of the Year by a jury of 96 international automotive journalists from 30 countries. This is a title no other car currently on the Motability Scheme can claim.
Step inside and you will understand why. The front passenger seat folds flat to create a lounge-like space, the panoramic roof floods the cabin with light, and the material quality rivals cars from far more established luxury segments.
At this price point through the Scheme, nothing else delivers quite this combination of considered luxury, technological sophistication and electric capability — with a range of up to 372 miles on a single charge. The EV3 is a car that makes you question why you would ever spend more.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

Some cars earn their place on this list through careful specification. Others earn it through sheer presence. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is firmly in the second camp — bringing the muscular, head-turning character of a truly iconic name in automotive history into the electric age. The result is one of the most visually striking cars on the Motability Scheme.
Inside, a vast 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen dominates the cabin alongside a 10.2-inch digital driver display, with synthetic leather standard across the range. Range extends up to 379 miles on premium variants, and a five-star Euro NCAP rating with a 92 percent adult occupant protection score underlines its safety credentials. For Motability customers who want a car that genuinely turns heads — and backs that attention up with substance — the Mach-E certainly delivers.

BYD SEALION 5 DM-i

BYD — which stands for Build Your Dreams — overtook Tesla in 2024 to become the world's largest manufacturer of new energy vehicles. Its ninth UK model in just three years, the SEALION 5 DM-i arrives on the Motability Scheme with a specification list that would embarrass cars costing considerably more. Standard equipment across the range includes a 12.8-inch touchscreen, vegan leather seating, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assistance, blind spot detection and LED headlights.
The powertrain is the real talking point. BYD's DM-i system operates primarily as an electric vehicle, with the petrol engine acting as a generator when needed — delivering a combined range of up to 631 miles. The interior is spacious with a flat floor, making it one of the more accommodating choices for five adults on this list.

Peugeot 208

The Peugeot 208 is one of those rare small cars that has earned generous praise from automotive journalists — not just for its price, but for the quality of its design. The bold claw-inspired LED running lights, sculpted flanks and confident stance give this car a presence that far exceeds its footprint.
This sense of considered style carries directly into the cabin. Every model comes with a 10-inch touchscreen, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and rear parking sensors as standard. The driving experience is equally refined — the 208 takes road imperfections in its stride with a relaxed, distinctly French composure that makes even short journeys feel unhurried. For Motability customers looking for a car that combines style, comfort and everyday accessibility in a compact package, the Peugeot 208 is a quietly impressive place to start.
