Unsurprisingly, each of the cars that featured in the original series have rocketed up in value. The biggest movers are the iconic MK1 Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Porsche 924, which both fetch over £13,000 more on average compared to 2003.

It is quite astonishing that the Golf GTI has not gone up more considering it is one of the founding fathers of hot hatchbacks.

Back in 2003, Mike managed to bag himself a 1985 Saab 900 Turbo for just £600; yes, you read that correctly. Although prices have risen by nearly £8,000, you would be forgiven for thinking the legendary 900 Turbo still represents very good value for money.

Although the humble Ford Capri 1.6 has risen by a few grand on average, we expected more based on the rise of other popular Ford models. Having said that, the desirable Brooklands Capri will set you back a very pretty penny.
