Introducing the new EQS by Mercedes-EQ
Sitting at the top of the Mercedes-EQ range, the new EQS is the first all-electric luxury saloon offering from the premium German marque.
Just as elegant and classy as its S-Class relative, the EQS successfully stands out thanks to its fully-electric powertrain and seamlessly futuristic design.
Technology, design, functionality and connectivity are the key focus points of the executive-class EQS, which manages to amalgamate these qualities to deliver a delightful experience for the driver and passengers.
Achieving a drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.202, the EQS is the most aerodynamic production car in the world, at the time of launch.
Design and Practicality
Meticulous attention to detail has been paid when designing the entirety of the new EQS.
Expressing a magnificent looking exterior, with powerfully smooth, flowing coupé lines and flush door handles; the EQS perfectly represents the definition of luxury.
Typical of Mercedes-EQ, you can expect all the usual extravagance from the interior, including the ambient lighting available with an extensive colour palette.
First-class is the best way to describe the deluxe plush seating in the all-electric saloon. Each seat is tailor-made to pamper the occupants, with an ergonomic position providing exquisite comfort.
Despite the elegance radiating from the executive saloon, it is remarkably practical, with a boot capacity of 610 litres. You can even extend this up to 1,770 litres if you are in need of the extra loadspace.
Technology and Safety
Mercedes-EQ have always been renowned for their ambient interiors and intuitive infotainment systems, that is not about to change. The new EQS take the MBUX infotainment system to the next level with MBUX Hyperscreen.
Spanning nearly the whole width of the car, three individual screens merge into what looks like a singular large curved screen, which sweeps along the dashboard. Both the driver and the front passenger have access to an independent crisp 12.3-inch OLED display.
Manoeuvring is made easier and safer, courtesy of the parking system's powerful sensors monitoring the car's surroundings, whilst there is also a fine selection of driver assistance systems included such as:

Range and Performance
Badged EQS 450+, the new EQS will be rear-wheel drive and house a 107.8kWh battery pack, delivering a power output of 328bhp from its electric motors.
Boasting an all-electric range of more than 400 miles (WLTP), which is up there with one of the furthest ranges out of all pure electric cars, the new EQS will be suitable for most journeys; long or short.
Instant torque is a phrase commonly used when discussing the acceleration of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), it also results in some pretty decent 0 to 62mph times.
The EQS is no different as the EQS 450+ completes the sprint in just 6.2 seconds.
Charging
The new EQS is fitted with an 11kW on-board charger as standard, optionally there is a 22kW available, which enables faster charging.
Installing a dedicated wallbox makes charging much faster and convenient at home or work, a domestic 3-pin plug socket can be used but will take much longer to charge the battery to full capacity.
Charging from 10 to 100 percent, using a wallbox, takes 10 hours with an 11kW on-board charger or five hours with a 22kW on-board charger.
Public charging stations are also an option, as is DC fast-charging up to 200kW. In under 35 minutes the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent capacity using public rapid charging at 100kW.
