Introducing the MINI hybrid and electric range
Renowned for their go-kart handling and easily recognisable due to their iconic looks, the MINI range has expanded over the years to include larger vehicles to meet the growing demands for family vehicles.
MINI are continuing to meet the evolving demands and now have a selection of hybrid and electric models which make up the eletric MINI family.
Discover the fully-electric and hybrid models available in more detail below.
What are the different types of hybrid and electric vehicles?
Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV)
Mild hybrid systems assist the ICE and improve fuel economy by harvesting and storing energy that is normally lost when braking.
Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)
HEVs combine an ICE with an electric motor and battery pack that is charged through regenerative braking to offer all-electric driving for short distances.
Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV)
A PHEV uses a similar setup to a HEV, but has a much larger battery pack to offer a more substantial all-electric range. You will need to plug in to fully recharge.
Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
BEVs only use an electric motor and battery pack for power, producing zero tailpipe emissions and impressive all-electric ranges. There is no combustion engine, so you will need to plug in to recharge.
MINI Cooper Electric
It looks just like a MINI and it drives just like a MINI but there is no petrol or diesel engine in sight, the MINI Cooper Electric is 100 percent electric but retains its go-kart handling and iconic looks.
Immediate oomph from the instant torque adds to the fun driving experience, whilst the impressive all-electric range of up to 249 miles ensures you can easily reach your destination.
Running low on battery power? Simply plug-in the MINI Cooper Electric and charge to 80 percent of battery capacity in as little as 28 minutes.
All-Electric MINI Countryman
The All-Electric MINI Countryman is the first time the model has been available with a fully-electric powertrain. If you are not quite ready to switch to the all-electric MINI Electric, you can always opt for the combustion engine alternatives, that feature mild-hybrid technology.
Like the MINI Cooper Electric, the All-Electric MINI Countryman will need plugging-in to charge the battery. In as little as 29 minutes. the battery can be charged to 80 percent of its capacity.
MINI Aceman
The new all-electric MINI Aceman is a trendy crossover model, which also happens to be MINI's first sole electric model.
In terms of size, the MINI Aceman slots in nicely between the MINI Cooper Hatch and MINI Countryman SUV, and gives a new dimension to those looking at finding their perfect MINI model.
Charging times mirror the Aceman's MINI siblings, meaning charging from 10 to 80 percent can be achieved in as little as 28 minutes.
