New smart #3 EV Revealed | All-Electric Coupé SUV

smart has launched its first sports utility coupe, the smart #3, at an event during the Auto Shanghai show.

The design of the smart #3 is a sportier interpretation of the design philosophy created by the Mercedes-Benz global design team.

Dirk Adelmann, chief executive of smart Europe, said: “We are proud to finally present our first-ever sports utility coupe, the all-new smart #3 to the world.

As an all-electric pioneer, smart is committed to uncompromising quality of experience and interactions. Our goal has always been to address the multifaceted and changing needs for mobility. Therefore, smart will keep on expanding its product family to offer a variety of cars that optimally suit different customer groups and lifestyles.”

The smart #3 will make its European debut later this year, shortly after the brand’s other new electric offering, the slightly smaller smart #1, arrives in the UK.

The smart #3 has slimmed down CyberSparks LED headlights paired with a distinctive “shark nose” and A-shape wide grille.

On the sides, a two-tone roof meets an e-line that connects the front and rear pillars to give the effect of a sporty silhouette. The spoiler, rear pillar and the rear bumper combine to create a modern curved line, while the car has tail lights with pixelated elements.

In the cockpit the trim includes circular shapes similar to those of turbine intakes while the dashboard flows into a high console which houses a 12.8-inch elevated central screen.

The infotainment system features a 13-speaker Beats Soundsystem.

The smart #3 will be presented to the European audience at the IAA in Germany during September 2023, before launching in the respective European markets early next year. Further details on the new smart #3 for the European market will be released at a later stage.
