Forward-thinking, the all-new smart #1 introduces intuitive features and advanced driver assistance systems to enhance experiences. It is small in size, but not in character, making for the perfect urban companion in the modern world.
Design and Practicality
Progressive to an unrivalled level, the #1 showcases what the smart brand is all about. With a seamless design that features concealed electric door handles, frameless doors, and a 'floating' halo roof, you are sure to stand out from the busy city crowd when behind the wheel.
As one of the first cars to be built on the fully electric SEA platform, you will be met with a capacious interior that capitalises on every inch of the #1's small dimensions to ensure space is not an issue. Visibility is also excellent all-round too, with an enhanced 360-degree view for viewing the beauty of all environments.
The #1 offers between 273 and 411 litres of boot space, dependent upon the positioning of the sliding rear seats, allowing you to find a setup that suits. A 15-litre 'frunk' residing underneath the bonnet can also be utilised for smaller items of luggage.
Technology and Safety
The smart #1 offers the highest levels of connectivity and driver immersion through intuitive technology. An interconnected ecosystem of the driver, car, and their mobile phone application is tied together through an AI virtual assistant. Simply login with your smart ID to unlock features such as air conditioning schedules and EV monitoring.
Other key elements include a 12.8-inch high resolution touch screen with a fully integrated infotainment system, a 9.2-inch full HD instrument cluster, and a 10-inch head-up display. Digital innovation is put first in the #1.
A plethora of safety features have also been implemented to ensure optimal safety in all road conditions. Advanced driver assistance systems offer the likes of evasive manoeuvring, blind spot detection, and automatic parking assist to provide reassurance when out on the road.
Range and Performance
Built with the future in mind, the #1 is powered exclusively by an all-electric 66kWh battery that produces a total power output of 268bhp – impressive for a compact SUV.
If that was not enough, 253lb ft of torque can be enjoyed instantaneously, allowing the car to go from 0 to 62mph in a time of just 6.0 seconds. Power is also driven to the rear wheels, meaning the #1 will offer a different feel to most compact SUVs on the market.
With EVs, range is always an area of interest, and the #1 impresses here too. When the batteries are fully charged, you can achieve up to 273 miles (WLTP) of range, allowing you to go further afield than the city boundaries in a stress-free manner.
Charging
When it comes to recharging the smart #1, you will have a variety of solutions to choose from.
Charge the car from home using a smart wallbox, and you can see your #1 recharged from 10 to 80 percent in as little as three and a half hours. It can also be charged using a domestic 3-pin plug socket, but this increases charge time significantly to approximately 33 hours.
Rapid charging solutions are also available when using the public charging network, allowing your car to be recharged by the same amount in less than 30 minutes.
