The Q3 is Audi's compact SUV offering that stands out for its numerous engine options, clever technology, and overall versatility. In-line with wider changes to the new Audi range, the Q3 is now better than ever, having received a number of updates fitting of a new generation.
Positioned in the brand's vast SUV line-up between the compact Q2 and mid-sized Q5, the Q3 stands as a fantastic choice for those seeking a useful family vehicle without compromising on style.
There are various specifications and engine choices to choose from too, including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, so whether you prioritise practicality, fuel economy, or advanced technology, there is sure to be a Q3 model that appeals to you.
Design and Practicality
Made apparent by their extensive range of SUVs, Audi are excellent at crafting premium family cars with fine aesthetics, and the Q3 stands as a fine example of this. Its bold new looks are perfectly fitting of a car that is designed for the future, with matrix LED headlights being just one example of its standout design features.
Not only does the Q3 look the part from the outside, the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail translates to the cabin, with sporty touches, a curved panoramic display unit, and an all-round premium feel.
The Q3 can perfectly accommodate five occupants inside, thanks to comfortable seating and plenty of head and legroom. There is also a 488-litre boot space for any luggage, shopping, or general belongings, as well as a sliding rear bench for ultimate versatility. Sliding the rear bench all the way forwards increases maximum carrying capacity to 575 litres, but this does come at the cost of rear legroom.
Technology and Safety
The Audi Q3 impresses on the technology front, with a newly-revised control layout and display unit, hosting much of the car's technologies while also seamlessly integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 12.8-inch infotainment system and 11.9-inch driver display unit takes centre stage, displaying pertinent information for an enriched driving experience. It does without clunky physical dials or buttons, but instead opts for a tech-first approach.
Safety is paramount too, with intelligent assist systems such as adaptive cruise control, park assist plus, and swerve and turn assist come as standard across all models. Optional packages further enhance safety features, including a driver assist pack that offers progressive steering amongst other features.
The Q3 not only provides drivers with cutting-edge tech, but prioritises safety through a comprehensive suite of standard and optional features, ensuring a peaceful and enjoyable journey.
Engines and Performance
Audi offers a diverse range of powertrains for the Q3, so there is lots of choice whether you are after fuel economy or high performance.
The petrol engines start with a TFSI mild hybrid model that offers a respectable 148bhp, providing an excellent balance of performance and efficiency. There are also higher-powered petrol variants (non mHEV) that offer up to 261bhp if you are in the market for something with a little more punch. Efficiency remains impressive across the range, while the famed Quattro all-wheel drive system is also available.
For drivers who prefer diesel, there is also a single TDI engine that provides a robust mid-range punch, producing 148bhp. More torque is present on these variants, making it ideal for towing trailers, too.
For an environmentally friendly alternative, the Q3 e-Hybrid stands out. Fuelled by a 1.4-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, generating 268bhp and an impressive all-electric driving range of up to 74 miles.
Charging
The Audi Q3's plug-in hybrid variant, combines internal combustion prowess with electric efficiency, offering a decent electric range of up to 74 miles.
With a maximum charging capacity of 11kW for AC charging, Q3 eHybrid can recharge its 19.7kWh battery from zero to 100 percent in just three hours using a dedicated wallbox. Alternatively, you can use a standard 3-pin plug for enhanced versatility, but this will extend the charging time.
In the UK, a well-established network of rapid chargers further enhances the Q3 e-Hybrid's practicality, ensuring convenient recharging during longer journeys and solidifying its appeal as an eco-friendly and versatile option. Ultra rapid charging can see you recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes.
