Engines and Performance
It simply would not be a BMW without superior performance, but coming standard as an M Sport model, driving enthusiasts need not worry.
As standard, the 840i M Sport comes available as a Coupé, Gran Coupé and Convertible offering 328bhp from its 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine. This ensures a 0 to 62mph time of just 5.2 seconds in the Coupé, 5.4 seconds in the Gran Coupé and 5.5 seconds in the Convertible. All these come with textbook BMW rear-wheel drive.
The M850i xDrive is more powerful still, with 523bhp and all-wheel drive. This ensures 0-62mph is completed in just 3.9 seconds in the Coupé and Gran Coupé, and 4.1 seconds in the Convertible, whilst all offering enhanced levels of grip and stability.
