BMW has gone on a product offensive, announcing seven new models or derivatives, all of which will be on the road in the spring of 2024.
The newcomers start with updated versions of the 4 Series Coupé and Convertible, M4 Competition variants, an entry-level iX2 all-electric compact SUV, a flagship high performance XM plug-in hybrid and a manual version of the Z4 roadster.
Prices start from £43,020 for the 420i M Sport Coupe and top out from £109,825 for the mighty XM 50e which has 473bhp on tap yet is officially rated at up to 217mpg with a zero emission range of 52 miles.
The iX2 eDrive20, which has an all-electric range of up to 297 miles, is priced from £50,710 while the M4 models come in from £84,250 for the coupe and £88,255 for the convertible.
The Z4 M40i Handschalter – German for manual transmission – comes in priced from £60,675 and can manage a claimed 35.3mpg with its 3.0-litre engine developing 337bhp giving it a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.
The new 4 Series models get sharper lines, slimmer LED headlights and the option of BMW’s Laserlight rear lamps, while all versions now come with paddle shifters for the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Prices for the Convertible start from £49,665 with the M4 Competition models developing 527bhp resulting in quick acceleration times as low as 3.5 seconds for the coupé.
All have the BMW Curved Display which now uses the latest Operating System 8.5 which enables easier access to digital services and the latest-generation of the iDrive system.
The new iX2 develops 201bhp from its motor, giving it a 0 to 62mph acceleration of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 106mph, while it can be charged from a fast charging point to add up to 75 miles range in 10 minutes.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain used in the XM 50e is the most efficient M Hybrid set up BMW has developed so far and reduces emissions from its all-wheel-drive 3.0-litre powertrain to a best of 30g/km while being able to travel at speeds of up to 87mph in EV mode.
The Z4 Handschalter, meanwhile, is also fitted with different sized wheels – 19-inches at the front and 20 at the rear – for the first time on the M40i to aid handling while it also gets an M gearshift lever with model-specific sleeve on the centre console for its 6-speed manual gearbox.
Prices correct as of 01/02/24 and are subject to change.
