Introducing the Land Rover Discovery Sport Electric Hybrid
Pushing the boundaries of the premium compact SUV sector, the Land Rover Discovery Sport extended range plug-in electric hybrid delivers an impressive electric-only range, exceedingly low CO2 emissions and the performance, refinement and capability that is expected in this car segment.
Land Rover's range has always been desirable, and it is clear to see why the Land Rover Discovery Sport models have been so popular.
With striking looks, a luxurious interior and an impressive range of innovative technology; the Discovery Sport is an excellent choice for drivers wanting a sporty looking SUV that can transport the whole family with ease and comfort.
Range and Performance
Badged P300e, the Land Rover Discovery Sport plug-in electric hybrid boasts an electric-only range of up to 34 miles whilst only emitting 44g/km of CO2.
Combining a 197bhp 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine and an 80kW electric motor, the P300e not only possesses superb all-wheel drive capability but can reach 0 to 62mph in just 6.2 seconds.
The default driving mode is HYBRID mode, however, drivers can also select Electric Vehicle (EV) mode or SAVE mode. As expected, HYBRID mode combines power from the electric motor and petrol engine. Meanwhile, SAVE mode prioritises the combustion engine as its main source of power which allows the battery State of Charge to remain at its chosen level. Finally, the EV mode enables the vehicle to run purely from the electric motor.
Charging
Located on the rear fender, on the opposite side of the vehicle to the fuel filler cap, is the charge port flap. The plug-in electric hybrid model is available with a Mode 2 Home Charging Cable which will fully charge the compact SUV in 6 hours 42 minutes, using a standard home plug socket.
Faster charging is an option using the Mode 3 Charging Cable and plugging it into a 7kW AC domestic wall box or AC public charge point. This method will take just 1 hour 24 minutes to reach 80 percent charge.
Thanks to the increasingly large network of Land Rover Charging points, replenishing the Discovery Sport's battery is a simple process, conveniently available through the Land Rover Charging smartphone app.
Test drive the Land Rover Discovery Sport Electric Hybrid
Based on the average vehicle commute in the UK, the Discovery Sport plug-in electric hybrid can be driven to work and back twice in pure EV mode before requiring charging. Not only will this save the driver money, compared to a Discovery Sport powered by a conventional engine, it will save time at fuel stations as the vehicle can simply be charged overnight at home, like a mobile phone.
Offering the same incredible capability and composure as the Land Rover Discovery Sport petrol and diesel models, the plug-in electric hybrid additionally offers all-electric, efficient driving both on- and off-road.
