Land Rover Discovery 30 Years Anniversary Edition

To celebrate 30 years since the launch of the original Discovery, Land Rover are launching an Anniversary Edition that comes with a host of additional extras and some nods to the original.

Limited numbers will be on offer exclusively to UK customers, with a production run of only 400 being built. Additional features include a full length panoramic glass roof and a Meridian sound system.

Exterior

The exterior of the Discovery 30th Anniversary Edition remains largely unchanged. Those sweeping lines and smooth contoured curves have become a staple part of the modern Land Rover and ensure the Discovery remains at the forefront of contemporary design.

A few subtle changes that are exclusive to this model have been made, however. 22” 5 split-spoke ‘Style 5011’ alloy wheels complement the stunning body shape and come finished in silver. LED headlights with LED signature on the front and rear offer a presence that cannot be ignored with ease, they also improve safety and visibility because they wrap around the sides of the car.

Available in four different colours (Santorini Black, Corris Grey, Loire Blue and Indus Silver), the Discovery Anniversary Edition is guaranteed to look modern and up-to-date for many years to come.

Interior

A lot of focus has been placed on enhancing the already luxurious and highly refined interior of the Discovery. A full length panoramic sun-roof uplifts the interior by allowing more light to enter, it also has the opportunity to provide some stunning views for passengers. And on top of this, to ensure your passengers in the back feel more secluded from the outside world, dark privacy glass has been added to the rear windows.

Surrounding yourself with complete luxury and unparalleled comfort can only take you so far, that is why the Discovery Anniversary Edition comes fitted with a Meridian sound system. Meridian is a world leader in high-performance audio and this system includes 10 speakers and a dual channel subwoofer, delivering exceptional definition and crystal-clear sound.

Performance

Although the emphasis is placed on luxury and supreme off-roading capability, the designers at Land Rover decided the Discovery Anniversary Edition needed a substantial amount of grunt to back up its credentials.

Underneath the bonnet lies a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces an astounding 306bhp and an incredible 700Nm of torque! The power is distributed to all four wheels via a seamless automatic gearbox. Not that it is the point of this vehicle, but with a 0-62mph time of just seven seconds, it is always worth knowing you can make swift progress if required.

Technology

Land Rover have included a variety of features that elevate the Anniversary Edition above its more ordinary counterparts. The Navigation Pro System will suggest nearby parking from its database and with one click by yourself, will add the car park and update your route. On the 10" touchscreen you will also be able to make use of 360° Parking Aid as well as Park Assist.

As you would expect being a Land Rover, the Discovery Anniversary Edition excels on any type of surface it encounters. This off-roading capability is courtesy of Land Rover's outstanding all-terrain technology that helps to regulate the power distributed to each wheel, optimising the grip when you need it most.
