Legendary Porsche 935 Returns

19th Nov 2018

Unveiled at the historic ‘Rennsport Reunion’ motorsport event, at the iconic Laguna Seca Raceway in California, this new edition of the Porsche 935 is a highly exclusive limited production, track-only, 700hp racer.

Just 77 cars will be commissioned with Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, Dr Frank Steffen Walliser expressing how the special car is a “birthday present from Porsche Motorsport to fans all over the world”.

Motorsport Heritage

Based on the current, ultra-impressive Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2), the Porsche 935 benefits from carbon-fibre composite parts, with an elongated body, paying tribute to the Porsche 935/78 aka ‘Moby Dick’ – a legendary racing car from the seventies.

The Porsche 935 won epic races such as the 24 Hours of Daytona along with the 24 Hours of Sebring six times each. The 935 even won Le Mans in 1979 too.

Spectacular aerodynamics mimicking the 935/78 are complemented by a whole host of details from legends in Porsche motor racing history. For example, the wheels are aerodynamically capped, replicating those found on the 935/78.

In addition, subtle LED rear lights appear on the rear wing end plates, these are adopted from the 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car.

It doesn’t stop there; the side mirrors originate from the current Le Mans-winning 911 RSR along with exposed titanium tailpipes, a tribute to the Porsche 908 from ’68. These all accompany one another perfectly and results in a truly breath-taking motor racing creation.

Interior details follow suit with the carbon steering wheel and display being taken from the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 R racing car. A safety cage and bucket seat complete the fully comprehensive package, whilst a passenger seat is available as an optional extra – proving the car’s serious racing character.

Engine and Technical Data

Based on the phenomenal road-legal GT2 RS, the 935 uses a near identical 3.8-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo engine, which produces 700hp. Power is transmitted to the road via a seven-speed PDK gearbox, complemented by a dual mass flywheel and limited slip differential. The overall weight of the 935 is just 1,380 kg.

The iconic Martini livery is available as an option, again replicating legendary Porsche racing cars. Just 77 examples will be made, costing £701,948 plus VAT.
