The Life of David Bowie Celebrated by Stratstone
06th Jun 2017
Stratstone BMW MINI Hull was recently transformed into a chic art gallery, when a UK exhibition tour of rare and never seen David Bowie photographs visited the retail centre.
The tour, entitled 'David & I: My Photographic Account of Touring the World with David Bowie' has been organised by Off Beat Lounge, alongside David Bowie's official photographer, Denis O'Regan.
Stratstone BMW MINI Hull opened its doors to visitors who enjoyed an evening of celebration for the British icon and everything he did for music.
There were 40 photographs on display including 20 extra-large fine-art prints of Bowie. The one-night-only event captured rare glimpses into the singer's life. Shot between 1978 and 1987 when David toured the world, the photographs on display had never been seen by the public.
VIP guests were given the unique opportunity to ask Bowie's friend, and favoured photographer, questions about the legendary rock star's life. The showrooms modern simplicity was the perfect backdrop for such beautiful photography, a great amount of space without taking the shine off the art.
On the night, all attendees were given the opportunity to buy any prints, which would be with them on canvas 28 days later and take home a commemorative brochure as well as their commemorative collector's ticket.
"We were pleased to welcome Off Beat Lounge and their guests to our retail centre for this unique evening. It was also a great opportunity to utilise our space for an alternative purpose and we met plenty of BMW and MINI fans, as well as Bowie enthusiasts."
- Rob Draper, Head of Business at Stratstone BMW MINI Hull
The exhibition will travel through Brighton, Chelmsford, Birmingham, York, Cambourne, Edinburgh and Glasgow between August and November.
