Introducing the new Audi A2 e-tron

Audi has expanded its all-electric range with the Audi A2 e-tron, its most compact model, bringing together the roles of the A1 and Q2 into one all-electric offering.

With an aerodynamically thought-out hatchback design, this compact EV becomes the smallest model in Audi's line-up. Not only does the A2 e-tron take its name from the brand's city-friendly supermini from decades ago, but it also borrows a few design cues from its profile, with a more sculpted twist. Yet its appeal extends beyond its nod to the past.

The A2 e-tron sits below the Audi A3 in the range, and below the Audi Q4 e-tron SUV in Audi's all-electric line-up. But being the smallest model doesn't mean sacrificing practicality. Its compact footprint makes it well-suited to city driving, and its hatchback design offers enough practicality for families and those who need a bit more space for everyday life.

Design and Practicality

The A2 e-tron continues Audi's design language with a contemporary hatchback silhouette that's modernly styled yet reassuringly practical. A bold single-framed grille matched with ultra-thin matrix daytime LED lights gives the A2 e-tron a recognisable yet distinctive Audi front identity.

Its sloping rear profile drops straight, paying homage to the original A2, reimagined for the modern era, while a pair of smart-looking LED rear lights add a contemporary touch. Practicality remains a strong point, with a generous 396-litre boot that expands to 1,336 litres with the rear seats folded.

Inside, the seating is supportive and comfortable, while the rear seats are especially generous, offering plenty of space for a family or three adults, with lots of leg and head room to keep everyone comfortable on longer road trips.

Technology and Safety

Upfront, the A2 e-tron features Audi's dual-screen MMI panoramic display, which combines the 11.9-inch driver's digital display and the 12.8-inch central infotainment screen in one aesthetically curved unit. The A2 e-tron also packs technology across all trim levels, including wireless charging with cooling, a heated steering wheel, and a rear-view camera.

For immersive sound on the move, the SONOS 14-speaker audio system bathes the cabin in rich, detailed acoustics, adding a premium feel to every journey. The A2 e-tron also uses Fidlock technology, a practical magnetic fastening solution that lets you move accessories such as cupholders around the cabin to suit your driving lifestyle and preferences.

It also features a comprehensive set of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including front emergency brake assist, swerve assist, and emergency assist, which detects driver inactivity, automatically bringing the A2 e-tron to a safe stop, and initiates an emergency call if necessary.

Powertrains and Performance

To keep things versatile, Audi has offered four powertrains across the initial A2 e-tron trims, giving you a range of power options. The line-up starts with a 168 bhp motor that sprints the A2 e-tron from 0 to 62 mph in 8.8 seconds, up to the most powerful 322 bhp version, which delivers a quick 0 to 62 mph time in just 5.7 seconds.

It also offers three battery options, with WLTP ranges from 247 miles to 397 miles with the 228bhp motor, making it the sweet spot for balancing power with electric range.

On the road, the A2 e-tron is smooth and balanced, and the higher-powered, performance-led trims get upgraded adaptive dampers for more precise handling when cornering.

Charging

Charging the Audi A2 e-tron varies depending on the battery you opt for. For home charging, a 7kW wallbox can charge your A2 e-tron from 0 to 100 percent overnight, so your Audi is ready for your commute first thing.

Rapid charging takes 24 to 29 minutes for a 10 to 80 percent charge, keeping all A2 e-tron models under the 30-minute mark for quick stops on longer trips.

Optional features also include bi-directional charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which lets you plug in an appliance or charge external devices using the car’s battery, making it especially useful for camping or outdoor activities.
