Introducing the Audi RS Q8

The very first Audi RS Q8 appeared on the UK market in 2020, cementing itself as the range-topping performance SUV from Audi.

Any Audi with RS in its name indicates the model's incredible performance, and the RS Q8 is no exception, offering sports car pace with SUV space.

Being based on the regular Audi Q8 SUV, none of the typical Audi magic has been lost with the RS Q8 of coming complete with iconic Quattro all-wheel drive as well as superb levels of technology, safety practicality and comfort.

Design and Practicality

The first ever Audi SUV to wear the famous RS badge, and so naturally the RS Q8 pushes the boundaries of performance along with brawny, imposing design. This is thanks to a design encompassing a sloping roofline and octagonal singleframe RS-specific radiator grill, meaning you do not have to look hard to realise the RS Q8 is not here to simply make up the numbers.

22-inch aluminium wheels showcasing a 10-spoke star design with 295/40-series tyres, the largest factory-installed on any Audi model, with optional 23-inch cast aluminium wheels perfectly set the RS Q8 off, whist the dual oval tailpipes give other road uses a hint of the RS Q8's power.

A capacious cabin also includes a hugely practical 605-litre boot, which increases to 1,755 litres with the rear seats folded.

Interior, Technology, and Safety

The interior of the RS Q8 is a superb place to spend time. It manages to combine the digital aura of new Audi models but in typical RS style with RS-specific displays in the 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit, giving you information about performance, acceleration torque and G-forces as and when you want it.

The Audi Virtual Cockpit is complemented perfectly by an excellent material choice and presentation, with the RS Q8 giving subtle nods to racing, with Alcantara used throughout.

The RS HD Matrix LED headlights not only look good but provide excellent clarity at night behind the wheel of the RS Q8. These are complemented by dynamic front and rear indicators and lighting animations.

Safety is also excellent, with the following features available:

  • Adaptive cruise assist
  • Intersection assist
  • Lane change warning
  • 360 degree cameras
  • Blind spot monitor
  • Predictive pedestrian protection
  • Air quality package

Engines and Performance

Being the most powerful Audi SUV ever created, the RS Q8 certainly packs sports car pace and dynamism.

Under the bonnet lies a hugely powerful 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine producing 600bhp with an 8-speed tiptronic transmission for ultra slick and seamless shifts.

The RS Q8 also comes as standard with Audi's excellent Quattro all-wheel drive system, meaning grip is enhanced in all weathers, whilst also ensuring incredible acceleration can also be enjoyed with ease.

All these factors combined mean that despite the RS Q8's size, this performance SUV can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds, going on to a top speed limited to 155mph.

Test drive the Audi RS Q8

If you are after an SUV with sports car pace and character, yet still want to keep all the benefits of a large and practical SUV, then the Audi RS Q8 ticks all the right boxes, and then some.
