Introducing the new BMW iX3
A brand-new design language, this is the all-new second generation BMW iX3, which incidentally is the first model of the Neue Klasse era, which presents a bold, systematic leap forward in technology and the overall evolution of BMW.
The BMW iX3 is the model chosen to showcase this new era, and will be joined by other BMW models in the future, ensuring modern and timeless design which are undeniably more BMW than ever.
Neue Klasse is German for 'New Class' and pays homage to the same name BMW used to showcase their saloon and coupés from the mid 1960s, only now this new iX3 is reimagined for an exciting new era.
Design and Practicality
Generously proportioned and highlighting BMW's unmistakable design features, combining a bold statement with subtle detailing, the iX3 makes a statement of intent.
The iconic BMW grille is now slimmer and more vertical, a nod to BMW design of the mid 1960s only now the iX3 is a modern reimagination and shows an updated appearance for BMW electric vehicles going forward.
A new front and rear light signature adds to the all-new sophisticated design, whilst a choice of wheel designs and trim allow you to tailor the iX3 to your preferred preference.
As for practicality, for the first time there is 58 litres of storage under the bonnet, whilst the traditional boot space offers a 520-litre space, which increases to a colossal 1,750 litres with the rear seats folded.
Technology and Safety
BMW Panoramic iDrive is perhaps the focal point on the new iX3's interior, which is one of four key elements of the new BMW iDrive with the display stretching the whole length of the dashboard.
This is joined by a new 17.9-inch screen that houses the main infotainment and settings, whilst the new multifunction steering wheel incorporates haptic Shy Tech controls. Finally, the optional 3D head-up display showcases real-time 3D visualisations to make driving easier and more focused.
This all combines to ensure safety is heightened, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road, whilst multiple optimised driving assistance systems ensure peace of mind whilst driving in safety terms, too.
Engines and Performance
Being fully-electric, the BMW iX3 uses an electric motor and battery (108kWh) to produce its rather healthy 463bhp. It is badged as the BMW iX3 50 xDrive, with the latter part showcasing its all-wheel drive nature. This ensures enhanced traction and grip, ideal for varying weather conditions.
This ensures for some rather dynamic acceleration, in which is only needs 4.9 seconds to go from 0 to 62mph, with a top speed of 130mph.
Being electric, the uncanny acceleration adds to the whole experience, whilst being a BMW means the overall driving experience is still exemplary, staying true to tradition, despite the modern electric powertrain.
Charging
The BMW iX3 offers a maximum charging performance of 400kW (DC) and 11kW (AC). This means charging will take 21 minutes when charging from 10 to 80 percent using DC charging, whilst 0 to 100 percent using AC charging will take eleven hours.
This ensures a full electric range of between 456 and 500 miles.
