Introducing the Land Rover Range Rover

There is something positively regal about the Range Rover, what with its elegant exterior appearance and plush interior design. In fact, we would go as far as saying it is the definitive large luxury SUV; an accolade that has been well earned.

Synonymous with immense all-terrain capability and distinguished on-road driving manners, Range Rover is a worthy flagship model. And this has been the case since its introduction at the start of the 1970s.

For the latest generation, an aluminium architecture was developed by Land Rover at a huge cost, ultimately reducing the overall weight and therefore improving efficiency and agility.

True to the original then, the latest iteration continues to break the mould with ground-breaking engineering. Carry on reading to learn more about the latest Range Rover.

Design and Practicality

Land Rover Range Rover Rear

Despite the handsome and assertive appearance, Range Rover is an exceptional everyday luxury SUV that has no issue rolling up its sleeves and getting stuck into an off-road adventure.

The driver's seat offers a minimum of 20-way adjustability, while the acoustically laminated windows ensure noise intrusion from outside is kept to an absolute minimum. Hot-Stone massage front seats and Executive Class Comfort-Plus rear seats are available for the ultimate, luxury experience.

Because of the sheer size of the Range Rover, three adults will have no problem getting comfortable in the back. The large rear windows and standard panoramic sunroof ensure natural light filters into the cabin for the ultimate in tranquility.

A traditional split-folding powered gesture-operated tailgate features, and does not have a load lip for maximum convenience when storing and removing cumbersome items. Boot capacity ranges between 900 and 2,190 litres.

Technology and Safety

Land Rover Range Rover Interior

Range Rover is brimming with technology that enhances safety, improves daily driving, and upgrades off-roading capability.

The vehicle's infotainment system, Touch Pro Duo, features intuitive and advanced integrated technologies whilst the Interactive Driver Display shows a host of useful information, and can be controlled via the multifunction steering wheel.

All models are equipped with the crystal clear Meridan™ Sound System, whilst higher specifications feature either the Meridan™ Surround Sound System or Signature Sound System for a profound, personal sound experience in every seat.

Terrain Response is a unique feature that distinguishes Range Rover from rivals. The system adapts the whole vehicle to suit the surrounding environment, with the end result being optimal grip and unrelenting off-road prowess. As you move up the trim levels you will receive Land Rover's latest Terrain Response 2 system.

Driver aids and safety highlights include Emergency Braking, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Lane Departure Warning as well as Front and Rear Parking Aid as standard.

Engines and Performance

Land Rover Range Rover Off Road

Range Rover is available with a number of innovative drivetrains, ranging from the efficient hybrid engines and all the way up to the breath-taking SVA model.

Both diesel variants are 3.0-litre, six cylinder engines with different power outputs of 296 and 345bhp. The advanced 48V mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) technology harvests energy which would normally be lost when slowing down and is redeployed to provide torque assistance during stop/start. Unlike the PHEV model, the mild hybrid engines do not need plugging-in to recharge.

Available as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the Range Rover P400e delivers a combined power output of 398bhp from the 2.0-litre petrol engine and the electric motor. The end result is low emissions (75g/km) and up to 84.8mpg achievable. There is the added benefit of being able to drive up to 25 miles on electric power alone.

In terms of petrol engines, you can opt for the efficient 3.0-litre six cylinder with MHEV technology or you can choose between two powerful 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged engines with either an almighty 518 or 557bhp, delivering a compelling blend of performance, comfort and refinement.
