Introducing the Land Rover Range Rover

There is something positively regal about the Range Rover, what with its elegant exterior appearance and plush interior design. In fact, we would go as far as saying it is the definitive large luxury SUV; an accolade that has been well earned.

Synonymous with immense all-terrain capability and distinguished on-road driving manners, Range Rover is a worthy flagship model. And this has been the case since its introduction at the start of the 1970s.

For the latest generation, an aluminium architecture was developed by Land Rover at a huge cost, ultimately reducing the overall weight and therefore improving efficiency and agility.

True to the original then, the latest iteration continues to break the mould with ground-breaking engineering. Carry on reading to learn more about the latest Range Rover.

Design and Practicality

Land Rover Range Rover, Exterior, Rear

Despite the handsome and assertive appearance, Range Rover is an exceptional everyday luxury SUV that has no issue rolling up its sleeves and getting stuck into an off-road adventure.

The driver's seat offers a minimum of 20-way adjustability, while the acoustically laminated windows ensure noise intrusion from outside is kept to an absolute minimum.

Because of the sheer size of the Range Rover, three adults will have no problem getting comfortable in the back. The large rear windows and standard panoramic sunroof ensure natural light filters into the cabin for the ultimate in tranquility.

A traditional split-folding powered gesture-operated tailgate features, and does not have a load lip for maximum convenience when storing and removing cumbersome items. Boot capacity ranges between 900 and 1,900 litres.

Technology and Safety

Land Rover Range Rover Interior

Range Rover is brimming with technology that enhances safety, improves daily driving, and upgrades off-roading capability.

The vehicle's infotainment system consists of three vibrant displays. The Interactive Driver Display shows a host of useful information, and can be controlled via the multifunction steering wheel.

The other two screens are split between in-car entertainment and the controls for the climate control, heated seats, and off-roading preferences. Each Range Rover gets essential features such as satellite navigation, DAB radio, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Terrain Response is a unique feature that distinguishes Range Rover from rivals. The system adapts the whole vehicle to suit the surrounding environment, with the end result being optimal grip and unrelenting off-road prowess.

Driver aids and safety highlights include Adaptive Dynamics, Emergency Braking, Dynamic Response, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Front and Rear Parking Aid and Emergency Brake Assist.

Economy and Performance

Land Rover Range Rover, Exterior, Front

Range Rover is available with a number of innovative drivetrains, ranging from the efficient hybrid engines and all the way up to the breathtaking SVA model.

The two diesel engines comprise a 3.0-litre V6 and a 4.4-litre Twin Turbocharged V8, which produce 275 and 339 bhp respectively. Fuel economy is reasonable, with mpg ranging between 25.4 and 31.5.

There are three standalone petrol units, which consist of a 3.0-litre Ingenium that utilises mild-hybrid technology, and a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that is available with 525 or 565 bhp.

Available as a plug-in hybrid, the Range Rover P400e combines a 296 bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 114 bhp electric motor. The end result is low emissions (64 g/km) and up to 83.2 mpg achievable. There is the added benefit of being able to drive up to 31 miles on electric power alone.

Range Rover has a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg, depending on the engine and model selected.
