If you want a used luxury 7-seat SUV, but think a standard Audi Q7 a little too tepid, then a used range-topping SQ7 could be more up your street. SQ7 models sit at the top of the SUV range alongside the SQ8 - which is actually a tad smaller.

Engines and Driving Experience
The previous generation of the Audi SQ7 were similar to its more compact SQ5 sibling, and used diesel engines, however, this version went back to a more vocal petrol.
This means, the driving experience is much more tailored to petrolheads, especially with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 under the SQ8's bonnet, producing a monstrous 500bhp.
This means, you can whisk the whole family from 0 to 62mph in a supercar baiting 4.1 seconds - quite insane for a luxury, family SUV.
For reference, a used SQ7 can outrun much more luxurious SUVs, such as the Bentley Bentayga and even certain Porsche Cayennes.
Practicality and Running Costs
Practicality in this 7-seat high performance SUV is excellent. There are huge amounts of space and versatility and even with all 7 seats in place, you still get a 300-litre boot - about the same as a medium hatchback. Drop the third row of seats, and you will get 770 litres of boot space, which is more than a BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne.

Interior, Technology, and Safety
Like all Audi interiors, the SQ7 is a fine place to spend time. The digital instrument cluster - Audi's Virtual Cockpit is still stunning, and with an accompanying infotainment screen in the centre of the dashboard, along with another for the air condition gives the perfect mix of digital input to a well-crafted cabin.
As standard, a used Audi SQ7 will get a lot of 'toys' and technology, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming standard, whilst emergency braking, lane departure steering and radar-guided cruise control safety technology also comes as standard.

Is the Audi SQ7 right for me?
If you are after a 7-seat luxury SUV, that also offers incredible performance, then not many can match a used Audi SQ7.
There are other fast SUV, but the 7-seat aspect is missing. Therefore, if you want a rival to look into, it has to be in the realms of a used BMW X5 or BMW X7. The latter features seven seats, but is not as performance focused, whilst it may be hard finding an M power X5 with the extra two seat package, turning the X5 into a 7-seater.
