The Audi SQ8 is a more dynamic version of the Audi Q8, yet just not as enhanced as the range-topping Q8 model, which is the RS Q8.

The SQ8 is a large SUV, sitting alongside the Audi SQ7. It is essentially a coupé version of the more practical SQ7, yet the SQ8 only has five seats, whilst the SQ7 has seven.

Interestingly, the SQ7 sits at the top of the Q7 range, whilst aforementioned the SQ8 sits behind the RS Q8 in the Audi Q8 hierarchy.

The SQ8 features a luscious engine to match its dynamic coupé looks, meaning if you are after a practical SUV that looks sleek and has enough punch to give sports and supercars a run for their money, then the SQ8 could be the SUV for you.

Being an Audi S model means the driving experience is tailored more to petrolheads, rather than the more normal Audi Q8. And when you take into account the SQ8's engine, which is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 under the SQ8's bonnet, producing a monstrous 500bhp, it is not an SUV for those wanting a calm, normal drive.

The enhanced performance means that the SQ8 can whisk the whole family from 0 to 62mph in a supercar baiting 4.1 seconds - quite insane for a luxury, family SUV.

Practicality and Running Costs

Despite offering just five seats, and not seven like its SQ7 sibling, the SQ8 still offers plenty of interior space for five, with decent practicality you would expect from a large SUV.

There is a hugely capacious boot, with 680 litres on offer, which is more than a Porsche Cayenne Coupé which has 625 litres, and more than a BMW X5 M60i which has 650 litres. Lower the rear seats in the SQ8, and you get an increased 1,755 litres, too.

As for running costs, as this is a performance Audi, set aside more than that of a regular premium SUV, and we would recommend an official retailer for maintenance and servicing, which can be completed by your preferred Stratstone Audi retailer.

Interior, Technology, and Safety

When it comes to interior quality, a used Audi SQ8 will still impress, same as all used Audi models from this era, due to the stunning, yet not over the top Audi Virtual Cockpit.

In a world where some manufacturers choose the iPad-like digital instrument/infotainment screen, Audi has still put their digital instrument cluster in a cove, like a traditional dashboard.

The infotainment screen in then placed in the centre of the dashboard, along with an accompanying digital display for the air conditioning too. It all feels beautifully put together.

As standard, a used Audi SQ8 will get a lot of 'toys' and technology, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming standard, whilst emergency braking, lane departure steering and radar-guided cruise control safety technology also comes as standard.

Being a luxury model, you can search used SQ8 which feature addition packs to enhance the safety and technology even more.

Is the Audi SQ8 right for me?
