New BMW M3 Competition Features
Discover the latest offers and finance deals on the BMW M3 Competition, which is a high-performance saloon that offers motorsport pedigree and blistering performance.
Based on the BMW 3 Series, the M3 took the already superb driving experience and gave it the full motorsport treatment, increasing dynamic capability, boosting horsepower and giving it trademark boxy arches.
M3 has cemented its place in history as one of the most renowned performance models ever, and is one of the most famous emblems to ever grace a car.
For those wanting the pinnacle of performance alongside excellent practicality, there is the BMW M3 Touring, which is the estate version of the M3 Competition.
Engines and Performance
At the heart of every M3 is a charismatic engine, finely tuned to deliver unprecedented levels of power and performance. In the BMW M3 Competition lies a racing-inspired BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine, which produces a colossal 522bhp.
This M3 Competition follows tradition perfectly by deploying all of its power via its rear-wheels for a supremely exciting and engaging driving experience. What is more, this latest incarnation of the M3 Competition can whisk its driver and passengers from 0 to 62mph in just 3.5 seconds.
The M3 Competition's immense power is sent to all four wheels via the xDrive system and a state-of-the-art eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, making for effortless acceleration.
Chassis and Handling
Each BMW M car is famed for its superior handling and driving experience. This M3 Competition continues the trend as expected, with a number of measures put in place to keep the M3 glued to the road, giving the driver complete confidence in unlocking all the car's potential.
M Adaptive suspension enables high levels of driving confidence, ensuring maximum tyre contact with the road surface, enhancing traction where possible to deploy power easily and in more effective doses.
Although the vehicle is all-wheel drive, it is predominantly rear biased, meaning you get the driving engagement of a rear-wheel driven car, but the additional grip of an all-wheel drive car.
An Active M differential helps distribute torque across the axles to maximise grip through corners, helping to make the most of the highly engineered chassis.
Technology and Drive Modes
M stands for motorsport, and the M3 Competition has a variety of settings that keen drivers will be able to customise and toggle between, allowing them to engineer their M3 to a driving experience perfect for them.
Road, Sport and Track modes represent the day to day, sportier and track settings, along with configurable M1 and M2 modes.
Three damper settings are available in the electronically controlled Adaptive M suspension talked previously, along with two brake pedal feel configurations, two steering settings, and ten stages of traction control.
M Traction Control allows for controlled drift (where legal), with drivers able to configure the mode to suit their preferred preference.
The latest BMW Operating System 8.5 can be found inside the M3 Competition's wide and curved infotainment display, allowing for rapid and intuitive navigation around the menus.
