Introducing the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-door Coupé
Mercedes-AMG has made a bold statement with the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé – the first series-production model based on the AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA) platform.
As the brand makes the transition to full electrification at the very top of its performance car range, it has applied all its signature innovation and competitive prowess to the electric age to ensure a thrilling driving experience.
Available in two powertrains – the AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ and AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ – this new-era delivers high-performance acceleration in a four-door, four-seat luxury package that places it above all other AMG models in terms of outright performance.
With a technology lineage that draws on the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar and Formula 1 engineering, and a completely newly developed high-voltage battery that delivers racetrack capabilities, this is a refined grand tourer for those who want all the luxuries of a premium car, but with the serious output associated with the Mercedes-AMG brand.
Design and Practicality
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé cuts a low, wide and aggressive fastback silhouette with a body that sits four centimetres lower than the previous AMG GT model, despite having a full battery pack on the floor.
At 5,094 mm long and with a 3,040 mm wheelbase, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé commands a serious presence on the road, and the signature AMG-specific illuminated grille with vertical slats is optionally illuminated for the first time. One of the standout design details has to be the deployable rear diffuser, part of the active aerodynamics and a highly aesthetically pleasing performance style accent.
Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé’s four-seat configuration can be converted into five with an optional three-seat rear bench. Rear legroom is aided by two ‘foot garages’, recessed in the floor, and a one-piece panoramic glass roof switches between transparent and non-transparent in individual segments. The 415-litre boot is complemented by a 41-litre front storage compartment.
Technology and Safety
Powered by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which controls and networks all vehicle functions and enables over-the-air updates, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé features a wide, continuous dual-display dashboard unit in seamless-glass design. It houses a 10.2-inch driver instrument cluster and 14.0-inch MBUX multimedia touchscreen, featuring AI integrations and exclusive AMG apps.
The centre console features three haptic AMG RACE ENGINEER rotary controllers for real-time chassis adjustability from the cockpit, giving individual control over motor response, cornering behaviour, and traction/slip control, and the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT provides seven drive programmes which adjust suspension, steering, sound, recuperation and powertrain response.
The car’s high-performance composite brake system provides a weight-optimised configuration for consistent, adjustable pedal feel under all braking conditions. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with torque vectoring distributes drive force individually between the two rear wheels, as well as between front and rear axles for active traction management in all conditions and an exceptional driving experience.
Engines and Performance
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé has a unique drivetrain concept with three axial flux motors: two on the rear axle and one on the front. The front motor acts as a ‘booster motor’, engaging only when additional traction or power is needed at the front axle.
The AMG High Performance Electric Battery (AMG HP.EB) uses 2,660 individually direct-cooled cylindrical cells grouped into 18 laser-welded modules, and has a 106kWh net capacity. That translates into a sizable 1,169bhp peak power for the AMG GT 63 4MATIC+, with a continuous output of 721bhp and a standard 0 to 62mph sprint of 2.4 seconds. A combined WLTP range of 370 to 432 miles stretches to up to 475 miles on the urban cycle.
The AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ can hit 0 to 62mph in 2.8 seconds and has a peak output of 816bhp (510bhp continuous), with a very similar WLTP range to its counterpart. Both models are capable of a top speed of 186mph (with the optional driver’s package).
The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé also comes equipped with AMGFORCE S+, an immersive driving programme that delivers authentic-feel traction interruptions, simulated haptic gear shifting and a sound portfolio captured from AMG V8 acoustics. An intelligent real-time mixing system pulling on over 1,600 individual sound files responds to driver inputs to produce a viscerally thrilling dynamic audio blend.
Charging
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé’s 800-volt battery means its charging capabilities are as impressive as its performance characteristics.
A maximum DC charging power of 600kW means 285 miles of WLTP range can be added in just 10 minutes, with a 10 to 80 percent charge achievable in 11 minutes.
On an AC charge, 11kW is suitable for home wallbox charging overnight or for public AC charging points, and the possibility of switching between the battery’s 800- and 400-volt infrastructure means the car is compatible with existing public charging networks where 800V chargers are not yet available.
MB.OS ensures the charging experience is continually improved and updated through the vehicle’s lifetime, and intelligent route planning integrates optimal charging stops and pre-conditions the battery for the fastest possible DC charge in advance of arrival.
