Introducing the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric
A staple of the luxury SUV market has undergone its most significant transformation yet. In 2026 the Mercedes-Benz GLC is an all-electric SUV that effortlessly melds next-generation tech with the refined elegance that the marque is known for.
Mercedes-Benz is accelerating toward a zero-emission future, and the all-electric GLC forms the current vanguard of this effort. Built on a dedicated electric platform, this model isn’t just a battery-powered version of its petrol and diesel engine sibling – it’s a completely re-engineered machine that offers superior range, performance and interior space.
This car is designed for ultimate versatility, ideal for navigating daily commutes, embarking on a long-haul holiday, or tackling an off-road adventure. And no matter where you want your GLC to take you, you’ll get there immersed in unmatched luxury.
Design and practicality
The exterior is defined by the all-new – and soon to be brand-defining – chromed grille: 942 backlit dots placed in three bars that illuminate in eye-catching patterns. Either side you’ll find cutting-edge Digital Light headlamps that use micro-LED technology for precise, high definition illumination, all while using 50% less power.
Inside the vehicle uses bespoke EV architecture to offer an experience unlike any GLC that came before. The cabin is a sanctuary lined with high-end materials: sustainable upholstery, 'ship deck' wood inlays, aluminium accents. With a wheelbase nearly 84mm longer than the combustion model, passengers enjoy significantly more legroom. Add a 520L boot and 128L ‘frunk’, and the Mercedes-Benz delivers exceptional class leading levels of interior space.
Technology and safety
The showpiece of the GLC's interior is the breathtaking MBUX Hyperscreen, which spans 39.1” (99.3cm) across the dashboard. Its seamless glass surface integrates three HD displays: a 10.3” driver cluster, a 14” central infotainment screen and a dedicated 14” passenger display.
The all-electric GLC offers a level of intelligence and connectivity previously reserved for the S-Class. The upgraded tech package includes:
- Augmented reality navigation
- Transparent bonnet technology for off-road visibility
- Over-the-air (OTA) software updates
- A Burmester 4D surround sound system
- Rear-axle steering for enhanced agility
As ever in a Mercedes-Benz, safety is paramount. A comprehensive suite of sensors and cameras provide Level 2 autonomous driving, including Active Distance Assist and a brand new semi-autonomous parking system.
Range and Performance
The 2026 all-electric GLC sets a new benchmark for electric performance in the mid-size SUV segment. The all-wheel-drive system delivers instant torque and effortless acceleration, with dual electric motors producing a combined 489hp to take you from 0-62mph in a jaw-dropping 4.3 seconds.
This vehicle is the rare combination of sprinter and endurance athlete. Say goodbye to range anxiety, as the 94kWh battery takes you up to 406 miles on a single charge. A clever two-speed transmission on the rear motor balances low-speed punch with high-speed efficiency, allowing the GLC to deliver strong initial acceleration before settling into efficient motorway driving.
Charging
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is engineered for maximum convenience at home and on the road. It supports ultra-fast 330kW DC charging, adding over 180 miles of range in just 10 minutes. A 10% to 80% charge takes approximately 22 minutes at a high-power station.
For home charging, the GLC comes with an 11kW on-board charger as standard, with a 22kW option available for even faster top-ups via an AC wallbox. With the Mercedes-Benz App you can manage the entire process remotely, and also pre-condition the cabin to your ideal temperature before you step inside.
