The Mercedes-Benz SLK is a two-seat roadster complete with an automatic folding hard-top roof. The third generation of SLK was on sale in Britain between 2011 and 2016, and is now an affordable way to buy a drop-top Mercedes.
Surprisingly, diesel variants of the SLK were the most popular with buyers, and are the most plentiful on the used market. It's not that surprising when you look at the numbers though, the SLK 250 CDI is capable of around 50mpg while providing 204bhp, pushing the car from 0 to 62mph in 6.7seconds.
Petrol variants are popular too, and SLK 200 are the ones to look out for if you want a balance between performance and economy. Leaning on the performance side, the SLK 350 and SLK 55 AMG will get your pulse racing, especially the latter with its 5.5-litre V8.
Practicality is as good as it gets for a fairly small two-seat roadster, with a decent boot and lots of interior storage spaces. Running costs are a little bit higher than the SLC, the model that replaced the SLK in 2016 with more efficient engines and updated styling.
