Offered in four derivatives, which use classic Porsche model nomenclature, selecting the right electric Macan is simple, and with typical SUV practicality, along with the uncanny ability to ensure this Macan Electric drives just as you would expect any Porsche sports car would, it serves as another showcase of Porsche's ability to create yet another excellent electric model, following on from the exquisite all-electric Taycan.
Design and Practicality
There is no mistaking the new Macan Electric for anything other than a Porsche. Sitting alongside models such as the all-electric Taycan, the bloodline is obvious for all to see.
Of course, in true Porsche fashion, multiple trim levels ensure your Porsche Macan Electric can be tailored to personal taste via well-known Porsche trim/model names, allowing you to specify your Macan Electric to match your requirements.
As for practicality, it is business as usual, with plenty of interior space and a large 540-litre rear-boot space (480 litres for the Turbo), along with an 84-litre front boot space, too.
Technology and Safety
Along with offering cutting-edge electric technology, there is plenty of other state-of-the-art features on offer with the new all-electric Macan.
Along with the whole experience of the Macan feeling unmistakably Porsche, in terms of driving feel and occasion, the whole interior is tailored towards the driver, with intuitive and ultra-responsive digital screens and tactile buttons which ensure the whole driving experience is not spoilt by technology, but instead enhanced.
Being a Porsche model, safety is also of the highest order with features such as cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, lane-keep assist with emergency stop function and park assist with reversing camera available in the range.
Engines and Performance
Of course, the electric Macan utilises an electric motor and battery set-up, giving it the fully-electric powertrain. It is applied to the Macan's body via two permanent synchronous machines that are attached on both axles, meaning all-wheel drive and fine performance.
This of course alters, depending on the chosen spec. Macan Electric, which is the entry-level model, offers 355bhp, which gives a 5.7-second 0 to 62mph time when using launch control.
This time drops to 5.2 seconds when selecting the Macan 4 variant, dropping to 4.1 seconds in the Macan 4S Electric, whilst the range-topping Macan Turbo Electric takes just 3.3 seconds to go from 0 to 62mph when using launch control.
Despite not using a turbo, the range-topping Macan Turbo Electric nomenclature is to help identify its incredible performance.
Charging
Macan Electric has the charging capacity of up to 270kW. This means fast charging is possible, giving this dynamic SUV the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 21 minutes.
Of course, charging at home is the most convenient and simplest way to recharge your battery. When using a dedicated home charge point, your electric Porsche Macan can be recharged overnight, so you always leave home fully charged.
Also, when using the Porsche Connect app, the app can optimally calculate your route, taking into account the charge status, available charging stations en route, along with traffic data, too.
