Introducing the Mercedes-Benz VLE
The VLE sits in its own category within the Mercedes-Benz passenger car range — the brand's first-ever Grand Limousine, and the first vehicle built on the brand's new Van Architecture platform. It seats up to eight people in surroundings that set an entirely new benchmark for comfort, technology and refinement.
Whether it is a long family journey, a chauffeur-driven occasion, or simply a desire for the finest in electric mobility, the VLE is an exceptional proposition — and one unlike anything else in the Mercedes-Benz line-up.
Design and Practicality
The VLE makes an immediate impression through sheer scale, but the impact of its design goes well beyond dimensions.
Sliding doors open electrically, and the optional Sky View panoramic roof creates a sense of airiness and space. It comprises a single unbroken pane of glass running from the B-pillar all the way to the rear — one of the largest fixed glass roofs fitted to any production car.
The rear compartment can be configured with between three and six seats, with individual seating available across three comfort levels — from the manually adjustable Comfort Seat to the electrically operated Grand Comfort Seat, which adds a pillow, massage function, lumbar support, wireless charging and calf support.
Manual seats feature four integrated wheels, allowing them to be effortlessly moved, locked in any position or removed entirely — Mercedes-Benz calls this the Roll & Go system. You might just call it highly flexible and convenient.
Practicality is woven throughout with storage drawers beneath the seats, folding tables and cup holders on hand for those in the rear, while the optional separately opening rear window makes loading effortless. Better still, the EASY-PACK tailgate can be opened hands-free with a kick gesture — useful when your hands are full.
Technology and Safety
The MBUX Superscreen spans three displays beneath a single glass surface: a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-inch central screen, and a 14-inch screen for the front passenger — all powered by the latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System MB.OS.
Voice commands and touch inputs handle the majority of vehicle functions, and the MBUX Virtual Assistant — featuring generative AI and multi-turn dialogue — is available to both front and rear passengers.
For those in the back, the optional MBUX Rear Space Experience brings a retractable 31.3-inch screen with 8K resolution — that's a larger and sharper display than many people have at home on their living room wall. An integrated eight-megapixel camera makes video conferencing effortless, while the split-screen function allows streaming, gaming and conferencing to run simultaneously. Audio is handled by an optional Burmester® 3D surround sound system with 22 speakers and 750 watts of system power, with Dolby Atmos® support.
Driver assistance comes via MB.DRIVE, with Distance Assist DISTRONIC as standard, and optional semi-autonomous motorway steering and Lane Change Assist available. Regular Over-the-Air software updates ensure the VLE continues to improve throughout ownership — no dealer visit required.
Engines and Performance
The VLE is powered entirely by electricity, built on an 800-volt architecture that enables both impressive range and rapid charging. A 115kWh usable battery supports a WLTP range of over 400 miles on a single charge — a figure that puts even the most ambitious long-distance journeys firmly within reach. Aerodynamic efficiency plays its part too. A drag coefficient of 0.25 is a remarkable figure for any vehicle — for one seating up to eight people, it is exceptional.
The powertrain prioritises smoothness and composure, with the optional AIRMATIC air suspension further enhancing ride quality. AIRMATIC integrates with Google Maps data to adjust ride height proactively — keeping the vehicle lower on motorways to reduce drag and energy consumption, while raising the body when required for ground clearance or easier entry and exit.
Despite its size, the VLE corners with a turning circle of just 10.9 metres — comparable to the Mercedes-Benz CLA, a compact four-door saloon. This makes it surprisingly manageable around town and in multi-storey car parks.
Charging
With a range of more than 400 miles on a single charge, the VLE can travel the full length of Great Britain from London to Edinburgh without stopping at all. But when you do need to top up, the 800-volt electrical architecture enables a standard fast-charging capability of over 300kW — meaning just 15 minutes adds 198 miles of range.
At home, overnight charging via a wallbox will comfortably replenish the battery, ready for the following day, making day-to-day running straightforward.
Charging status and remote functions — including seat configuration and climate control for rear passengers — are accessible through the Mercedes-Benz App, keeping everything conveniently to hand.
