Introducing the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Plug-in Hybrid

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is available in a stylish Saloon, along with a practical Estate. Both are as classy and sophisticated as the petrol and diesel powered Mercedes-Benz C-Class but are now more efficient than ever.

Emission-free driving can be achieved in the C-Class PHEV models for up to 35 miles, plus driver's will appreciate lower running costs compared to the petrol and diesel versions of the C-Class.

Each model comes well-equipped with intuitive technology features, a standard charging cable for wall box and a 7.2kW on-board charger, which allows fast charging of the battery.

Range and Performance

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate Plug-in Hybrid

With both the Saloon and the Estate there is a choice of combining the electric motor with either a petrol or diesel engine. Therefore, the C-Class Plug-in Hybrid is either badged C 300 e, or C 300 de - for the diesel version.

Although efficiency has been enhanced, performance hasn't been compromised. The C 300 e combines the electric motor with a 2.0-litre petrol engine to deliver a total power output of 316bhp. The power output is slightly less in the C 300 de, which utilises a 2.0-litre diesel engine, at 302bhp.

Fuel consumption varies depending on model, however, with the C 300 de Saloon it can return up to an impressive 235mpg.

The all-electric range of up to 35 miles is enough to ensure the average UK commuter can travel to work and back before needing to re-charge.

Charging

BP Chargemaster Wall Box

The most convenient method of re-charging the C-Class PHEV models is at home using either a domestic three-pin plug socket or a dedicated wall box.

Using a wall box, both the C 300 e and C 300 de Saloon and Estate can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in under two hours. The 7.2kW on-board charger allows fast charging of the battery when working in conjunction with a wall box charger.

Alternatively, charging using a household plug socket would take around five hours to reach a full charge from 10 percent.

A bp pulse home charger can also be installed to speed charging up, compared to a 13 A three-pin domestic plug, so a full charge can be reached in under four hours.

There is also the option of using public charging stations. These are great when you need to charge whilst out and about as there are thousands located around the UK.
