The core GLE SUV Plug-in Hybrid utilises a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol powertrain and electric motor, delivering enhanced efficiency over its traditionally-powered siblings. This variant produces a solid 322bhp, delivering a refined drive and smooth acceleration.
There's also the AMG GLE 53 Plug-in Hybrid that comes with a very similar setup, yet delivers a combined 577bhp and 553lb ft of torque. This power lets the AMG GLE 53 Plug-in Hybrid accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 4.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than its previous iteration.
A 31.2kWh battery is fitted to all Plug-in Hybrids, providing around 60 miles of all-electric range, helping to reduce fuel consumption and emissions on everyday journeys, such as short trips and city runs.
Charging
At present, no charging information has been released on the new GLE SUV Plug-in Hybrid. However, it will likely feature the latest charging technology from Mercedes-Benz, as it did with the previous GLE plug-in hybrids. As before, charging will be available via household plug sockets, wall boxes, and public chargers.
The MB.CHARGE Public premium charging service will be available, providing charging for new GLE SUV PHEV owners and offering access to around 3 million charging points worldwide.
