Engines and Performance
Fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 228bhp and 236lb ft of torque, the MINI Convertible manages to achieve the 0 to 62mph sprint in just 6.5 seconds - six tenths quicker than the Cooper S. Top speed is an impressive 150mph.
That tremendous turn of pace is accentuated by an exhaust note that is pleasing with the roof up, and downright exciting with it down. The growl of the mid-range is backed up by pops and crackles on the overrun, which are grin-inducing to say the least.
The 6-speed manual gearbox is available to specify for the keenest of drivers, while the Sport Automatic is equipped with paddle shifters for a "best of both worlds" experience.
Chassis and Handling
Superior handling has always been one of MINI's trademarks, and they have gone to town on the hardware of the Convertible JCW to ensure it is able to make the most of its powerful engine.
Lowered sports suspension is equipped as standard, as are red-painted sport brakes for extra stopping power. Adorned to these items are black 17-inch John Cooper Works Track Spoke alloys, while 18-inch wheels remain an option box well worth ticking.

Technology and Drive Modes
Standard equipment on the MINI Convertible JCW includes cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and an 8.8-inch infotainment screen in the centre console, all of which take the convenience levels up a notch.
MINI driving modes are also part of the JCW package, and is comprised of Green, Mid and Sport. Mid is the default mode offering you the perfect everyday blend of performance and efficiency.
Sport mode is where things really get interesting, as throttle response and steering inputs are tuned for the sportiest possible driving experience. In automatic models, gear shifts are quicker in this mode, too.
