Introducing the Aston Martin DBX S
SUVs are more popular than ever, making it no surprise that world-class brands offer their own take on the segment. Aston Martin answers with the DBX S, a more powerful evolution of the DBX707.
Aston Martin does not do things by half, with the DBX S now the most powerful traditionally-powered SUV, thanks to a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo at its heart. The DBX S' aggressive stance gives this SUV its own identity, almost in a class of its own, aiming at the driver who wants super tourer spec but with the added practicality of a spacious boot.
Discover how the Aston Martin DBX S is upturning the SUV market and moulding the future of the larger luxury performance SUV landscape.
Design & Practicality
From a first glance, you will notice its more assertive style compared to the DBX707, with a design that has ultra-luxury SUV vibes paired with performance integrity.
To achieve its dynamic aesthetic, the DBX S has been upgraded with distinctive features, including new front splitters, a reprofiled diffuser, and side sills with upturned air splitters for aerodynamic performance. The front grille has also been brought in line with the 'S' identity with a lightweight polycarbonate finish and honeycomb design, bringing improved cooling air flow capacity, which can be complemented by an optional single-weave roof pattern.
The boot space is entirely practical too, with a spacious 491 litres under the rear shelf, making this DBX S a thoughtfully crafted pedigree SUV for grand touring.
Technology & Safety
The overall design has lost some weight with a total of 47kg removed from the DBX S compared to its siblings, including its lighter 23-inch magnesium wheels. This reduction lowers its centre of gravity, enhancing its road-hugging agility and overall driving performance. Plus, to further optimise the driving experience, the electronic dampers and air springs have been tightened up, delivering firmer body control when cornering.
Inside, the DBX S features 'S' branding throughout, including a premium herringbone design that comes standard on the seats. A world-class touchscreen delivers state-of-the-art tech with fingertip and multitouch control, and the cabin layout is ergonomically designed to deliver a supercar-like feel in an SUV, for the best driving experience.
Engine and Performance
The DBX S has had its performance upgraded from the DBX707, delivering the agility of a supercar rather than an SUV. The powertrain under the bonnet of the DBX S is a staggering 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces an eye-watering 717bhp, giving this SUV a 0 to 62mph promise of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 193mph.
Torque sits at 664lb ft, giving plenty of pull, and, as it's an SUV, it'll tow a heavy load with no issues. The nine-speed automatic gearbox showcases the car's extended rev range, thanks to turbochargers taken from the famed Aston Martin Valhalla. Downshifting in Sport and Sport+ delivers even more power when the moment demands it, giving you sharper acceleration and an exhilarating driving experience.
Finally, a new quad-stacked exhaust system installed in the DBX S delivers a throaty character more like the DB12 S, letting everyone know your intentions.
