What are the different types of hybrid and electric vehicles?

Land Rover mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV)

White Range Rover Evoque Off-Roading

The new Range Rover Evoque was the first Land Rover to receive their latest MHEV system, that harvests and stores energy normally lost during deceleration and intelligently redeploys it to maximise efficiency.

Ultimately MHEVs reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Incorporated within the mild hybrid technology, an enhanced Stop/Start system enables the engine to shutdown while the vehicle decelerates. Unlike with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, MHEVs do not require plug-in charging.

The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Defender, Discovery and Discovery Sport also have the option for the latest 48V MHEV system.

There is a plug-in electric hybrid option for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and Defender. Sometimes called PHEVs, these models can perform most short commutes in full electric vehicle (EV) mode.

Being Land Rover's most efficient vehicles yet, you may think their performance is less superior to a traditionally powered SUV. However, you would be wrong. The Range Rover Sport plug-in electric hybrid can race from 0 to 60mph in an impressive 5.9 seconds, whilst the Range Rover Velar plug-in electric hybrid's remarkable time of 5.1 seconds is a time that is competitive with sports cars. Capability and performance haven't been compromised in all these vehicles, whilst are still fully capable of tackling off-roading, wading. rock crawl and snow.

Depending on your local power supply, the vehicles can be fully charged in around seven and a half hours using a home charging cable. Some of the models can even be charged from 0 to 80 percent in as little as 30 minutes using a 32kW DC public charge station. Charge times do, however, vary by vehicle.
